Brockley Bites - Festive Special

The Brockley Christmas Market, 2pm-7pm Saturday, December 1st

Brockley's Christmas Market will take place on Coulgate Street, by the station, this saturday. As well as the stalls, local businesses will be supporting the activities and, thanks to Magi, the Broca and Dandelion Blue, Brockley finally has a commercial street worthy of Christmas festivities. In addition to the market, Brockley Community Church will be organising a lantern workshop and procession from St Peter's Church, Wickham Road from 4pm - 5.30pm. The Christmas lights will be switched on by the cast of Broadway Theatre's Aladdin at 5.30pm.

Dandelion Blue official opening tonight

After a soft-launch yesterday, Dandelion Blue is officially opening its doors tonight. We've not had a chance to try it out, but the feedback so far has been very positive and the place itself looked stunning as we ran for the train this morning...

Jam Circus live music Sundays

Jam Circus, Brockley's liveliest local venue, has begun regular live music sessions on Sunday nights and have a new website, if you've never been to the venue before. Click here for more. We will carry more on their music programme in the coming weeks.

Wicked, looking forward to Saturdays markets! The shops down there deserve our custom if only for shying away from the skabby plastic signage and hideous frontage which most other local retailers relish. Hope there are mulled wine and mince pies!

I'm very excited too! This is exactly the reason we bought here! Can't wait to try out the new deli. Thoroughly enjoyed the champagne tasting down at 'Degustation' the other night too!

I'm really looking forward to this too!

As a local artisan I would have really loved to have had a stall myself - perhaps next year Lewisham will make the information on how to get a stall more accessible? (I checked the Lewisham council website and saw nadah!)

I'll be at the Southwark Frost Festival on the 14th through the 16th if anyone is interested in some locally made totally awesome santa sacks and christmas stockings!

Degustation is awesome - I went there twice this weekend (couldn't help myself - try the duck pate). Thanks Augustin!

Cheers - Maradoll

Went in yesterday - bought some cannelloni, a ciabatta and some apple juice. All delicious.

Andy, do you have any evidence for that or is this another caffe nero style story. If no evidence, then don't write it please.

The new Jam Circus site is very nice, but unfortunately it currently carries no mention of December's music line-up. If anybody would like to know more please use the site (www.antic-ltd.com/JAM.htm) to get in touch with us. We should have new fliers ready soon and would be happy to send them in email form.

I'm looking forward to trying the new deli and Degustation - so far I have only managed to see Degustation's painted signage when closed and had a peer through the deli windows before it was ready to trade. Could anybody tell me if either has seating, or are they more grab-and-go?

Richard - grab and go as they are only small units.

I just love the chi chi allure of Degustation...Gus should be thoroughly congratulated for bringing some rustic charm to the area! We particularly enjoyed the tolouse sausages...big and juicy...mmmmmm

If you haven't already tried, then check out the Merguez sausages he does there. Amazing. My suggestion, is this - buy a baguette. Cut a section just over the length of a sausage. Slowly fry two merguez and then sit them in the baguette side by side. Lots of mustard and ketchup. Sheer Heaven.

Does any one know who won the Dandelion Blue raffle?
I'm sure they're just waiting til Monday to call me and tell me I've won the 6 bottles of bubbly.

Oh and does any know if the coulgate street fair is going to be regular?
Maybe twice a year would be good. It was a really nice day and gave a real community feel. Magi, Broca and Dandelion Blue must have loved it.

Great day, great shopping.
Well done to the organisers.
