Brockley Christmas Market will be back

One tidbit we learned on our walkabout is that, following the success of the 2007 Christmas Market on Coulgate Street, the Council and Brockley Cross Action Group have confirmed that it will be repeated this December.

It was a lovely little event last year and, with more shops open in the area this time, we can hope that it will get even more support from local traders - as well as the other community groups that took part last year.

Can we have a pink Santa this year?

Thought the market was rubbish last year, surprised it has come back.

Emperors new clothes if you ask me. Lots of middle class types prending it was good when it wasn't.

Positive thought from anonymous flamer there. Everything has to start somewhere, perhaps it'll be bigger and better this year? As for "middle class types", Brockley is almost exclusively middle class, even those who like to think they wear a working class badge of honour are really just middle class

"Thought the market was rubbish last year"

It was that green santa, wasn't it?

Anon, get involved. If you think the Christmas market was too poncey get involved and start 'de-poncify-ing' it.

@Anon - spreading sunshine on every thread you visit eh? It depends what you're looking for from the market. Was it a great place to do all your xmas shopping? No. Was it a chance to mingle with your fellow brockleyites and buy something nice to eat or drink, while people paraded the lanterns they'd made earlier in the day? Yes.

ah, but was that anon the same as the other anon? You never can tell. Sitemeter probably helps...

But of course! Thank you. I just went over to their site funnily enough and they have a survey on improving Brockley Road, and it cited this blog.

Oscars - the coffee is fine, it's the lack good foam on the heated milk that disturbs me..... My cappuccinos are more like caffe au lait. Please take a lesson..... because it's all lovely really even the artisan bread. So, have your coffee and then maybe you could step into Geddes, the hair and beauty pace that has landed in Ladywell as if from outerspace, all glass, mirrors shiny chrome, leather and charteuse green. Truly excellent.

Has anyone had experience of "Rosa Parks" the hairdressers?
