Hilly Fields Fun Fair this weekend

From Friday through to Sunday this weekend, Hilly Fields will be home to a small Fun Fair - the kind with bumper cars.

The fair will be open from 12pm to 7pm daily.

Will the burgers be organic?
Will the bumper cars run on flaxseed oil?
Will the music be British?

After a childhood in the colonies, brought up on Blytonesque tales of colourful happy circus folk, I was actually quite surprised the first time I saw a funfair in the UK. Let's just say it was very different from what I'd read about...

Still, it's not for me, but I'm sure all the local kids will enjoy it so I hope it does well.

Oh, the life of a travelling Fair looks horrible. It's all tracksuited, tattoo'd chavs chewing gum all day whilst their 'shaved hair but with a ponytail' offspring walk scabby dogs on strings.

...On a day trip from out of the C zone, of course...

Are adults allowed on the rides or is this one of those biased children-orientated events?

I hope its not going to be one of those bright-neon affairs with side helpings of deeply fried food to get the kids fat.

Bring back traditional fayres!!!

I'm 40 years of age, when I was a kid I went to gaudy, loud fun fairs with dodgems and all the trimmings. It was fun and I would say traditional, it's aimed at kids is it not? ask the average 8 year old if they want big wheels and dodgems or a maypole - guess what will win.

Stay in and write a letter to the council in green crayon if it annoys you that much.

(You don't have to feed your kids BSE burgers by the way)

Catman goes gathering nuts in may.

good idea! Does anyone actually do that? Where are the nuts in brockley? (que pun)

Not sure about nuts in May, but Hilly Fields' unkempt slopes were always good for magic mushies in September. Or so I've been reliably informed.

Perhaps HH could get his celeb shmoozing friend around to ascertain the quality ?

i remember the good old days when you went to a fun fair to see a knife fight between teddy boys...

Maybe that's why that part of the park has now been disignated as meadowland.

Who owns the wheely bin in brockley that bares the words:
