Cobbles

After all our gnashing and wailing about the shoddy workmanship on the Brockley Common project, it's great to see something done properly. The pavement outside the Brockley Barge has been replaced by some fetching cobbles, which have dramatically improved this spot.

Even better, the traditional grey metal barriers around the Christmas tree, haven't made an appearance this year, meaning the tree actually looks festive and we've all got the chance to prove that we can pass a barrier-less tree without injuring ourselves.

Does this photo prove once and for all that the Brockley Christmas tree is situated in the wrong place?

If you can't take a clean shot of the Christmas tree without getting both the Wetherspoons pub and a phone box in the frame then its either time to find a new location for the tree or to ditch the camera and try your hand at something else.

does anyone know who's initiative it was to do this work? it just seems ironic that bxag spent what, 5 years? bashing collective heads against proverbial walls, getting the station entrance redevelopment to happen, whereas this just sort of popped up. or have i missed something? What's the lesson for community activism / involvement?

"Slow news day?"

As opposed to our massive balloon decoration exclusive?

It does look good but that phone box needs moving. Wonder what happened to the valuable York stone (was it York stone)?

I keep telling friends that the Weatherspoons will be a Pizza Express in three years; have I mentioned that on here before?

Nick - please can we have a vote on Brockers priorities for next year, one where you can rank them rather than just vote for one?

Coulgate street needs better lighting, paving, and loads of bollards, cars are strewn about, and a pedestrian you have to weave through them. That is my priority for this area.

Would look a lot better with an old K6 red phone box.

Is that one of those "new" BT boxes and not a traditional red pillarbox? I'm going to round up some busybodies and hound the relevant authorities into installing one to shut us up.

A pillar box fellow anon is for posting letters. Both should be red mind.
