Late night shopping in Brockley

Four of Brockley's best businesses have joined together to organise a special late-night opening, to encourage us to do as much of our Christmas shopping as possible locally.

Degustation, The Shop on the Hill, Browns of Brockley and Toads Mouth Too will all be opening until 10pm tonight and next Thursday.

It's a great initiative and it's great to see local businesses working together like this, to make life easier for customers. Browns of Brockley recently changed its opening hours, shutting between 12pm and 5pm during the week, so that it open until 8pm for returning commuters. We understand from Ross that it's an approach which has been working well.

That sign basically reads "Mung, Mung, Mung & Mung"

more like Yum, Yum, Yum & Yum

Toads Mouth is not a shop though so I don't get their involvement?

Good idea to enhance local trade though.

@DD - TM will be serving dinner and drinks to all those weary shoppers!

degustation sells french produce, lots of assorted animal fats and no brown rice. So not only is your joke lazy, it's factually incorrect. Nob.

@Anon - yes, but it's foreign innit. If it doesn't come in a crisp packet or deep frozen then it's "mung".

Can I just say that Degustation are selling some lovely cakes at the moment. Their portuguese custard tarts are the best I've had outside Portugal and their macaroons are pretty fab too!

Great flyer, but if you are going to promote something, go all the way. Promote what is actually in the store, not simply that the store is open. I went past Brown's i saw two chaps in there. However I have to be honest the place didnt look inviting and Christmassy.

You have to engage people, the air around those shops should be filled with the smell of roasting chestnuts and offers of minces pies with every purchase plus friendly local banter.

What about other local businesses? Fishy Business, Gulen Kebab, Dukes, etc.?

To be fair, I always have friendly chat/banter with Ross whenever I go into Browns

They open late anyway which means they are participating by default.

Brown's wasn't open this evening , 6.00pm. The blog hasn't been updated. Hope Ross isn't running out of steam.

There is also a massive sign in the right hand window which tells you when it next opens...
