Tressillian Roadworks

Work to relay Brockley's most pock-marked stretch of road starts today. Tressillian Road's crater-strewn surface at the junction with Hilly Fields Crescent, which for years has acted as a de facto traffic calming measure, is getting fixed.

The traffic re-routing which has been in place for a while now, will continue during the works.

I drove down there for the first time yesterday - nearly destroyed the car!

Lovely new surface on Hilly Fields Crescent, and all finished on time. Is this a record?

I'm pleased that they're doing it but I'm not looking forward to the chaos when I get home tonight. The closure of Hilly Fields Crescent last week caused more than a few traffic jams!

it looks good.
i would like some money to be spent making the Tyrwhitt/HFC junction safer though. It is really nasty, whether a pied or in the car.

Pete - Nearly destroyed the car? Have you tried it on a bike? If you end up plunging into one of those potholes as you come down the hill from Hilly Fields you almost get thrown off! Not to mention the loose shards of tarmac and gravel liberally scattered about

It would certainly make life easier (but less thrilling) if somebody were to put up a big convex mirror at the junction of Tyrwhitt/HFC. (almost typed KFC..)

Not exactly up to conservation area standards though. Unless it was built on a replica Victorian ironwork support.

A few days peace on Hilly Fields Crescent whilst the Rat Runners were stopped.

Coming home tonight I was bemused by the number of people who simply decided to ignore the road closed signs. It' really not that hard to find a way round...

It will make to road look a lot nicer. what it only needs know is for the big trees to be trimmed!

I'm so pleased that they've finally sorted this out. Brookbank Road is next, it was delayed due to the snow.

All done and looks lovely. Think they're moving onto Harefield Road tomorrow..... You have been warned!

Walked by it while it was being done on Thursday - amazing the heat beating up from the newly laid tarmac. But it was quie a shoddy job. A layer of some sort of metal mesh, with at least some of the dips underneath not properly filled, then the tarmac on top and - I particularly noticed - going almost up to the pavement so you've lost some depth of gutter (and the nice sets of cobbs that formed the gutters looked like being buried).
