Brockley's gene pool under scrutiny

The producers of the JLC show at the Rivoli are looking for local talent.

They say:

We’re looking for up-for-it single girls and boys to take part in our fun dating segment with a twist, where you get to star alongside Justin Lee Collins in front of a live audience.

They're also:

Looking for people who love to sing and dance to take part in performance-based games, where you get to star alongside Justin Lee Collins in front of a live audience. You don’t need experience, just bags of enthusiasm, and a passion for performing.

Email us with your name, age, occupation and contact telephone number to JLCaudience@tigeraspect.co.uk

shudder indeed.

Last Friday at the JLC show, I got my first laugh of the evening when queueing up to get my coat at the first interval. A gent remarked that a trip to the dentist would have been more fun and a lady gave it straight - That was Shit!

It's great for the Rivoli though and neighbouring venues such as Jam Circus.

was Brockley mentioned ?

At the JLC show?

No, we were greeted as the Crofton Park Massive by some guy at the start. Perhaps he got off the train there and being streetwise and all......

And then to top it off, the announcement at the start of the show was ...from downtown Catford....

It doesn't matter if your colours are Brockley or Crofton Park, I think we can all agree that we are not downtown Catford.

I blame Del-Boy.

Since Only Fools and Horses the rest of the country thinks South London is made up entirely of the Deptford Peckham Catford triangle.

Boycie being the Catford connection.

Big up for Catford.

If you left at the first interval you missed the most entertaining part of the show; the audience member who was so drunk she couldn't pronounce her own name. Or it might have been the incredibly bizarre 'up-for-it single girl' and her three incredibly unsuitable suitors.

The show was absolutely hilarious for all the wrong reasons and the bar must have made a killing!

Hmmmn I have six tickets for next Friday, I was going to go part ironically as I think JLC is a bit of a cock but also to see the Rivoli full of bustle, but after reading the reports don't think I can face it.

The second and third toe on my left foot is slightly webbed. Will I get my own show?

Node, if you want to see the Rivoli in full bustle & glory go to the Jive nights or Magic Theatre nights. The next Magic Theatre night is the 24th April, not sure about the next Jive night but it will be on their website.

And keep an eye out for the next Vintage Ball in May. It's a great night with a Dj in a tutu who played the best 80's music.
Ps Good to bump in to DD as we were both escaping at interval time. It really was rubbish.

What happens at a Magic Theatre night?

After enduring what seemed like 3hours of Joe Swash spouting s**t. The night improved vastly on discovering that if you go to bar located at the end of the right hand corridor and say your from Tiger Aspect the booze is free! by the time out party left, Katie Brand was begining to look attractive and I expect TAs bar tab was greatly increased!

I have tickets for this Friday.

What time do you need to arrive to ensure that you'll get in - or is that not an issue?

Robert,

Everyone seemed to get in when we went a couple of weeks ago.

Good to meet you too Moira.

This weeks guests are Mat Horne and Rihanna so at least the guests are improving.

Hi, We have tickets for JLC on the 12th Feb. Really can't decide whether to go..... Has it improved since the first shows? Thanks

No need to worry, Anon, 12th Feb was three weeks ago.

March?

March!! Sorry! We originally had tickets for the 26th Feb but changed dates. I can't believe it's March already.

So to go or not to go......?

Anonymous said...

Anon, I have tickets for 26 march and am having the same dilemma. I'm working on the basis that they will have saved the best guests for the last show, and that they will have had time to iron out some of the more awful elements of the show by now (?!) so I think I will give it a go. You can always leave if it's terrible.

I went the Rihanna night.

You will wait outside for ages with no gaurantee you will get a seat or even get in. You will have time to go to the bar for ONE drink and then spend a good two hours wishing you were anywhere else.
(They wanted to create this 'party' atmosphere - all the tables had empty drinks!)

The interviews are tedious and why do we care about these people again?
JLC is not funny, neither are the 'skits'.

The best part was actually having time to look around the ballroom and notice all the things you never have before, like the mirrors that line the beams.
