The East London Line - how was it for you?

We'll be trying out the Brockley service later today. Brockley Kate opted for an early adventure. Please tell us what you thought. Was it worth three years of BC boosterism?

But they weren't at seven o'clock when I wanted one so I had to shell out £5.60 in the machine because the ticket office wasn't open. And I could not even get a simple return to Dalston Junction for £2.60 - as the only Dalston on offer was in Cumbria!
Not so good PR...

I throughly enjoyed the journey with Kate, Darren and Tamsin this morning. Followed by an excellent coffee and croissant at The Broca. Erin reported the first visitors from Hackney arrived earlier today. Get down to Brockley quickly and you might even get one of the free commerative tickets issued today only.

The new or completely refurbished stations north of the river look lovely - and the journey is very smooth.

Love the idea of visitors from hackney. It's like an Arthur C Clarke novel, did they come in peace in skinny jeans? Off to spitalfields Market later.

Just experienced the East London Line, sitting in a cafe near hoxton writing this, very quick journey. Hoxton actually looks quite nice - first time here so surprised, going to the geffrye muesum in a minute then shoreditch, then going south again to brockley ! I got a free ticket too!

The real test will come tomorrow morning.

Then we'll know how it's going to work for most of us most of the time.

whats the betting that the first time it's delayed someone will pronounce it a complete disaster? I was at Liverpool street in no time today no sweat....literally

Had a great trip on the ELL today - free travelcards, nice cool trains and Shoreditch High Street in 19 mins. Everyone was super friendly and buggy access at the new station is great. Delighted. Hope my commute to London Bridge doesn't suffer tomorrow. . .

Also went to Geffrye museum (not with Cat Man). Have actually been using the service from New Cross Gate for last two weeks, but today made my first journey on the extension to Brockley. And surprisingly it was delayed. Quick to NXG and then long delay before Brockley. APparently there was congestion.

The east london line has halved my journey into work... It's lovely. A relaxing, air-conditioned, humble experience!

Brockley is on the map.

Great journey this morning. Air conditioned comfort and a seat all the way to Shoreditch (just at tail end of rush hour). Fabulous.

Got the Jaffa back home. Luverly, same as this morning - not quicker but less hassle than negotiating LB. I think ibmay have seen lou weeping and shaking his fist as I pulled into brockers

I went out in the middle of the day - lovely and cool on the way up to Shoreditch, but A/C not working on the train on the way back - heat unbearable, even on an empty train.

Still, was on time in both directions, so can't complain too much. Will make sure I have a bottle of water with me next time.

I've discovered the hard way that Shoreditch High St station is in a quite different location from the 'Shoreditch' station marked in my most up-to-date A-Z (2006)!

In case anyone else is planning on investigating the Shoreditch area, just be sure you know where on the map the overground station is, so you can get back to it. There are no obvious signs for the new station if you're coming from the City/Spitalfields Market side, making it rather hard to find.

Well it gets worse - I decided to try the jubilee/ell on the way home - first off I discovered that my 7 day return is not accepted on that route, which I find outrageous! The jubilee line was foul, on reaching Canada Water I jumped on the ELL to discover that the much vaunted aircon had packed up and it was hotter on the train than it was outside this was capped off by being thrown off at Surrey Keys as they decided to terminate the service - next up was a Crystal Palace service which also had no aircon and which proceeded at walking pace to NXG and finally Brockley where I was bloody glad to get out. This much vaunted new service is CRAP!!

@Andy Rail returns have never covered any alternative journeys - only the rail journey in question.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience otherwise, but it doesn't seem to tally with the majority experience and teething problems were always to be expected.

That one trip was crap. I've used and it was fine so I guess we cancel each other out
