Welcoming the ELL

To celebrate the arrival of the East London Line / London Overground to Brockley, a handful of early-birds are planning to be on Platform 1 at 7.02am tomorrow morning, when the first northbound train is due to roll in. We'll ride the rails all the way to Dalston and back again, then perhaps call into the Broca for coffee (if it's open at that kind of time).
Anyone who'd like to join us (the trip is being organised by Brockley Kate and ex-councillor Dean Walton) is welcome to meet us on the platform from around 6.50am tomorrow morning. Post a comment here if you're intending to come, so we can keep an eye out for you!

!! WAAAAYYYY too early. A later trip with pub lunch north of the river may tempt me?

By the way, the railings opposite the Barge are being removed as we speak. With the ELL arriving barriers are being removed all round(you see what I did there?)Didn't have a camera on me to record the momentous event.

I notice that it now takes up to 14 minutes on the timetable to go from Brockley to London Bridge! Used to be 8 or 9!

Yes, if you use the ell and change - which would be daft. The southern service to lb is the same as it was. Chillax

Deptford Dame says that there are FREE tickets, limited 1st come 1st served per station for ELL launch day.

Er no, I'm looking at the timetable for both ELL and Croydon/Victoria to London Bridge. It's now a minimum of 11 minutes and a maximum of 14 minutes from Brockley to London Bridge. At least in the morning peak hour that I'm looking at.

It's always been thus in peak time. Nothing that walks or crawls has ever made it from Brockley to London Bridge in under 10 mins in peak time. The timetable just reflects a reality that the ELL has done nothing to change.

I mean, at peak time, getting people on and off the train at Brockley and New Cross Gate alone takes a good 3-4 minutes.

The ELL has no impact on Southern journey times, although as others have pointed out, Southern's problems may impact on the ELL...

What are we going to talk about when the ell is established? We need a longterm aspiration, bakerloo line? Elvis being found alive and working in sounds around - which would somehow be fitting

Tempting - what time to you expect to be back as I have to be involved supervising the spatting of rats in Oak Hill from 11 am...

@ Tamsin - I think it takes 27 mins to Dalston, so we should be back by 8.30ish at the latest.
I believe the Broca is opening early to celebrate, so hopefully we'll stop there for a coffee on our return.

Great idea, people. Looking forward to your reports. May well have a ride later today.
