Brockley photographers
The Brockley group on Flickr has over 120 members, whose work is featured in Brockley Central's photography section - the most popular part of the site, after the home page and the map.
One member, Tim, is hoping to meet up with other photographers in the area, to share ideas and techniques and start group projects with a view to creating a local exhibition. If you'd like to get involved, visit the discussion section of the group.

Any hard news?
What would you like?
I think something is going down with the Mantle Road shop fronts that comprise of the Broca Food Market. Over the last few weeks I've seen clipboard carry people looking them up and down and overheard a snippet of conversation about the 'space'. Today a surveyor is pointing his 'surveyor lazer' at it menacingly.
No more giant blocs of flats please.
Thanks for posting this, Nick. To get things started, I'm suggesting the first Monday of the month for a meet, 9pm at the Brockley Jack. If people are interested in coming but can't make that date/time/venue, I'm happy to change it.
I'll post the same on the Brockley group page on Flickr and, provided at least one other person is interested, we'll hold the inaugural meeting next week.
To be fair to Nick, there isn't a lot happening around these parts at the moment.
Also to be fair to me, I am pretty busy at the moment, which is why BC had to 'go-dark' for a few days.
There are a few hardish stories in the pipeline, but as ever, BC strives to bring a mix of stories to suit all needs. A new social group in the area that aims to create a local exhibition celebrating Brockley is pretty interesting in my view.
It's going to be another relatively quiet day today as I am discussing the state of British innovation later today, but normal service resumed soon

In the mean time, please feel free to email me your scoops.
Three cement bags left outside a house in Geoffrey Road - some six months ago? - ARE STILL THERE. (Now that's hard news.)
PLANNING GOES GREEN. The planning permission given by a Green councillor to build DOUBLE-HEIGHT BUILDINGS in Ashby Mews was all for nought - AND LIKE AS NOT LOST GREEN THE ELECTION. The 'developer' who wanted to construct this green roof development (for his pension, chuckle) is now offering them for sale TO RESIDENTS.
MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARANCE OF WHITE VAN MAN AT BROCKLEY CROSS. D&M take to the side streets following campaign by Brockley Central to move them from his.
SQUATTERS AT MANOR AVENUE UNITED SERVICE CLUB IN QUID PRO QUO WITH DEVELOPER. RESIDENTS FIGHT TO KEEP SQUATTERS.
Look and yee shall find.
Squatters in the ex club on Manor Ave? I haven't seen hide nor hair of anyone there and the windows are barricaded with metal. Let alone anything about residents supporting squatters.
What's up with that large house next door to the Talbot? Is that a squat house too?
Tim, I am definitely interested so hope to see you then.
The large house next to The Talbot was on some estate agents websites last time I looked
4 Tyrwhitt Road next door to the Talbot is for sale; £599K I think down from £625K original price.
The House that is squatted is 8 Tyrwhitt Road, 2 doors up from the Talbot which is now 2 Tyrwhitt Road having formerly been 2-4 Tyrwhitt Road.
I think it is number 8, or number 2 which was once numbers 1 - 2 that I have in mind.
It is a beautiful house so it is a shame it is in such a state.
I definitely want to come along and have joined the Brockley group on Flickr.
Btw has anyone seen one of the answers on Yahoo Answers about living in Brockley?:

Hmmmmm.
Ah yes, I know the squat house on Tyrrwhitt. Shame that it's been allowed to get so dilapidated, it could be such an edifying edifice....
Mmm, Andrew M on that Yahoo answers page is just the sort of bloke you could share a glass of arsenic with.
As it stands that house has potential. Its a kind of brooding presense on the end of tyrwhitt road. When its tarted up it will be just another house like all the bloody rest.
I reported the cement sacks which are actually cement rocks on the Love Lewisham website a couple of weeks ago but they and bags of garden waste on the traffic island are still there! The council usually clear up sharpish once you report waste but not this time.
More importantly WHERE IS MY TREE! The council said one would be planted out side No 36 GR I have asked twice where it has got to - No response. Not treemendous service
I emailed my councillor about getting a tree replaced on Manor Avenue. Cllr was v helpfuil but the council unresponsive. Eventually they replaced the tree but it was a fairly long hard slog. They make you work for it.
We can't move for new trees in Malpas Rd. It's treefic.
sorry not apropos the thread but, Nick, are you into "24"...
the "going dark" reference...
The house next to the Talbot is still overpriced IMO. It did sell but the sale fell through.
It's worth exactly what someone will pay for it!
@Q - unnecessary and error-strewn dig there. The D&M vans have never been outside my house and they haven't moved away from Brockley Cross, which I complained about, they've just spread out in to more streets. If they're now parked on yours (Manor Ave?) then perhaps now you see my point. They were forced to move by the gas works which lasted three months, but rest assured they are back. I didn't attempt to move them on to other streets, but to get them to use a parking lot, like ABC vans have. If I were ABC, I'd be unhappy that I was being undercut by a company that's cutting corners like they are.
@Anon - seasons 1-4 are BC's crack cocaine. Season five lost its way a little, half way through season six.
I thought I saw them using a corner of Brockley Cars? Perhaps they've come to Ana arrangement?
That's new kids on the block, ABC vans. Good old D&M still use the streets of Brockley as their depot.
BrockleyNick... I never said that these vans were parked outside your 'house'. (Are they parked there too?). I assumed that your road was connected to Brockley Cross and I assumed that this is why you mentioned the parking problem, which is fine. I too think that it is outrageous that this person is conducting a large-scale business in our streets. The Manor Avenue 'dig' bit is a bit perplexing though. Guess on.
@Q - no, they aren't now and never were. I write about things that affect the area.
I guessed Manor Ave because Headhunter reported they'd been parking up there too lately.
8 tyrwhitt Road is under the "care" of Stephen Collingwood, Stephen.Collingwood@lewisham.gov.uk. The council have done nothing about the complaints over the last four years so feel free to advise them of your views.
Yeah they were along Manor Ave, great big, ugly, slab sided vans taking up parking spaces, however I haven't noticed them around for a while.... Perhaps the council or someone has clamped down?
@HH - no, it's because the gas works in Brockley Cross have stopped, so they can park there again and don't need to go further-afield in search of someone's kerb. The Council don't consider the vans a problem.
The council never seem to consider parking a problem until a CPZ is set up and they can make money from it. Otherwise they're not interested.
Kate and Brockley John aren't around much these days, miss them.
As usual a good job in digressing from the original headline. I will be interested.
Just a reminder that we will meet tomorrow at 9pm in the Brockley Jack. All welcome.
Just to say that the Brockley Flickr group's first meet was a success! Six people came, with more giving apologies. There is a huge range of experience and interest between us so it will be interesting to see the results of our first project! Please come along next time. Keep checking the Brockley group on Flickr for updates and info.
