Brockley Scouts
Neighbours bring food with death, and flowers with sickness, and little things in between. - Scout Finch, To Kill a Mockingbird Rob's been in touch to tell us about Scouting in Brockley, ahead of tomorrow's Summer Fair. He says: You may not know, but Brockley is home to the world's oldest Scout Troup (don't let anyone tell you otherwise)! 1st New Cross (The Greys) was founded in 1908. It is also the largest in the District, with very active mixed groups for Beavers (for kids age 6-8), Cubs (8-10yrs), Scouts (10-14yrs) and Explorers (14-18yrs).
The weather is due to be fine, so please come along and join in the fun!

I think it must be 11 Am onwards or else these scouts are a more racy bunch than they used to be.
We wil drop in certainly. It is the sort of thing that we need to encourage around here. I would also urge them to get children from non typical scouting backgrounds to get invovled. They would lvoe it once they got started and these sorts of initiatives really help in lots of ways.
Ijoined the cadets when I was a kid. Desperatley uncool but had heaps of fun and can honestly say it taught me a few life skills.....and how to hit a target at 500yds with a high powered rifle but let's not dwell on that part..
it was really good fun and their next event is a Race Night which should be excellent. Maybe the organisers will ask Nick to publicise that in due course.
Aladdin's Cave on Lewisham Way used to be a Scout Hut,Many moons ago.
