After a few disastrous experiences at the now-defunct Brockley Cross dry cleaners, we discovered One Step Ahead, who have always been friendly, efficient and actually give you your clothes back clean. We don't have any more to offer than that by way of a review, but please feel free to share other local dry cleaner recommendations.

I always use the place next to the Esso garage - they are excellent
I agree, really well priced, and their alterations are very reasonable and great
The until recently (they've added a new sign) rather shappy looking place at the end of Endwell Rd is cheap, reliable and efficient.
They don't have dry cleaning facilities on site so you have to wait a day or two for return.
They are called asik's and are family run. (I think they are on their annual holiday at the moment . . . )
As has been said, reasonably priced, good cleaning and efficient service. Alterations on the premises by the owner's mum.
I totally recommend Asik's. They are cheap and alterations to some expensive garments have been spot on. In addition, they are a well established family business in Brockley.
BTW - they are now back from leave. Dropping some things in later!

We always use Asiks for all our dry cleaning. They even managed to mend a very complicated baby cosy toes for me a few winters ago. Well priced and friendly service....we don't go anywhere else!
I have used Asiks for years but never knew they were called Asiks, or that they did good alterations for that matter.
Are they any good at altering suit jackets?
What are Asiks opening hours? They are very conveniently located for me.
I agree, One Step Ahead are very good. We've used them for years and they cleaned my wedding dress for a fraction of what other places charge.
The Esso garage place are great
I agree about the place by Esso. I went to get a sheep rug and 2 pillow covers dry cleaned. He actually recommended I tried it on delicate wash at home as it would do the same job. That's honest I must say as it did the job at no extra cost to me. He could have taken it and made money on it. That doesn't happen every day nowadays. Hat off!
Drakefell - yup very good with suit jackets. Asiks are great.
What about Brookbank Dry Cleaners? Friendly and efficient, they own the launderette a couple of doors down. The owner will collect and deliver too I think. They cut keys, mend shoes and do alterations.
Used the dry cleaners next to Broca food market a couple of times - clothes have always come back clean and undamaged - even risked a valuable suit which came back fine.
The laundrette opposite the Brokcley Barge near Sounds Around does dry cleaning. In fact they do DIY dry cleaning very cheaply.
The Endwell Road place (Asiks? with the A4 paper signs) are now doing my ironing at a pound a shirt (fed up of burning myself and lazy too). Initial results are very positive and they have just got a new floor laid... Hope the spruce up as that's actually quite a nice old building.
I did once use a dry cleaners and had an evening dress coming back smelling of other people's armpits because he used to put his friends' cotton shirts through as well.
Junction Express in Ladywell - run by a really friendly family (I think they're Italian) they do fantastic repairs and alterations and the cleaning service is second to none. We've moved a bit further away but we make a special trip back to Junction because they are so consistently good.
One step ahead are excellent, im lucky enough to live on lewisham way, always use them and great for cleaning and alteration. Also super friendly and nice
ditto agree with anonymous above - one step ahead is good and the owners (a family?) are lovely. i do wonder if its a bit pricey but then its good, quick and always clean and fresh so its worth it.
Asik's (by the Esso garage in 'mid town' Brockley) are excellent, friendly and good value for money.
I would urge you to support them as a local business that may be under threat. The main guy who is in there has told me several times in the last year or two that they're really struggling because of the recession, and also because far fewer clothes need dry cleaning these days. He told me he went several months without doing more than covering costs (i.e. earnt no wages) - for all I know that is still the case.
For anyone at the CP end of Brockley I can thoroughly recommend Starlite Dry Cleaners (opposite the post office and Mr Lawrence) - very friendly, quick, helpful and all round value for money
When it comes to the best dry cleaners at an affordable budget and for your home, start your selection with mesa dry cleaners
Hi all i thoroughly recommend Asik dry cleaners. They dont mess about. they are friendly efficient and if they think you can wash things at home - they'll let you know. I always get my siuts and shirts dry cleaned there. they always come back good as new and are very reasonable with their prices. they also do alterations at reasonable prices. if you want honest, trustworthy and friendly customer service - ASIK is the place! Asik Dry Cleaners on Brockley Road next to the Esso garage are really very good. This week they have repaired and cleaned a pair of very large silk curtains for me and they have done a fantastic job. They look like new! We've used them for years for repairs, alterations and dry cleaning. I really recommend this family run business.
