Brockley Road closed due to "serious police incident"
UPDATE 16.05: On Twitter, BCer Martin reports that he has been informed that the incident was a hoax call. Road now reopened.

The police turned up at a reported incidence. There was no incidence...... That's essentially it.

I love that bit in one of Dick Francis' books where Sid Halley is reading a report from his sidekick who had been interviewing stable lads to the effect that the horse in question suffered from a "tritus". Knowing about horses, Sid is totally flummoxed by this as "tritus" is a condition he had never heard of. Until, that is, he ran it through his head in an Irish accent and came up with "arthritis"!
