Manor Avenue Festival Weekend
This weekend, 60 Manor Avenue will host two separate pop-up events: The Manor Avenue Micro Festival and Squattastic Five.
On Saturday, from 7pm, the People's Picture House is organising the Micro Festival squat shindig - full details here. On Sunday, the building will stage Squattastic Five, an event affiliated to Climate Camp London, from 2pm-6pm - click here for more - although the organisers stress that unlike Saturday, Sunday's event is not a public one.
The former United Services Club was originally targeted by a nursery operator, which withdrew its plans after a campaign by local residents led to its planning application being rejected. The 'owners' then secured planning permission to convert the building in to housing but it is currently a squat.
This is the squat's last hurrah, now that the property has been sold.

Lets hope they are not as noisy as Honeypot and neighbours.
Who or what entity has bought this place?
I understand is an industrial fog horn manufacturer, it's for their London test facility. Not a problem is it?
Since the advent of GPS foghorns are no longer used...shame really.
I therefore can't believe they are still manufactured.
@WDP - it's part of George Hallam's strategy for the economic revival of Lewisham. Brockley will become a world centre for the manufacture of fog horns, wax cylinders and spatz.
Anon 13:32, thanks for the belly laugh.
Does anyone know what the Manor Avenue Militia think of all this?
We've enjoyed having our squatter neighbours. A fine bunch of people, they also had cinema nights, one of which we were pleased to attend.
The new owners are turning it back into a house, thankfully, and the plans are at Lewisham and available online.
It's a shame to see the squatters go. But then we shall also attend No 60 and have a farewell drink.
Hi everyone!
Just to make it clear WE ARE NOT HAVING ANY CLIMATE CAMP MEETING ON SUNDAY!!!!
We don't know who got this false idea first - we found it out on this blog.
It looks like someone from the Climate Camp re-tweet some unthoughtful information!
Sorry to everyone interested!
Thank you, Brockley Nick, for the acknowledgment but you are misinformed.
Spatz is a firm based in Redditch where I am sure they make a valuable contribution to the local economy. Moving them to Lewisham would add to unemployment in the Midlands and create pressure for even more people to move to London.

I wonder how easy it'll be for the new owners to oust the squatters. There's been a sold sign out front for a couple of months, but so far no sign of development action. I wonder if getting the squatters out is delaying things?
like the piece says, they're moving out. new owners moving in. no probs.
I'm the buyer - we are still in the process of buying the place and will live in it as our family home.
I hope the party this evening is a success. I'd like to have come along myself but am home alone with our young son.
The squatters have done the house a great service keeping it warm, dry and secure when it could have been sitting empty getting damp.
Frank Barrie who is currently in EastEnders playing the organist is a long-term Brockley resident, by the way.
