Was your car scraped on Harefield Road?
After the commonplaces of everyday life, with their muffled dramas, all my organic expertise for dealing with physical injury had long been blunted or forgotten. The crash was the only real experience I had been through for years.

I was on the 484 on the way back from Lewisham, at about 11.35am, and a Blue, (slightly electric in colour) Citroen (I think it was a Xsara) insisted on squeezing past the bus, and several parked cars on the road.
I was unable to get the number plate of the car, the bus was crowded and I was sitting on the wrong side. But I imagine the bus driver will have got it, as the car scratched his bus. His reg was 'YX11 AHG.'
I just wanted to let you know, in case any of the reader's cars on Harefield Road were damaged, and they wanted to follow it up with the insurers?

yes, Insurers always rush to pay out money where the owner has got absolutely no evidence other than from someone they don't know who didn't have a very good view of a possible incident and is writing on a blog . . .
So sorry anonymous, that I couldn't have been of greater help.
But if you note later on in the email. I have given the bus drivers registration, the bus number, and the time it happened.
The bus driver will probably write out an incident report form, because his bus was badly scratched. This means the bus driver is likely to have got the number plate himself. It is worth a try, if your car is damaged, and cars on Harefield Road were damaged in the incident.
Give yourself a name 'anonymous', particularly if you're going to be critical of someone trying to help out their local community.
Yes, HB, as you've identified, there's a strong positive correlation between being anonymous and coming up with idiotic and unhelpful comments.
Well done HB. Thanks for taking the time to report this to the community. Ignore the idiot who posted first.
Good work HB.
Well clearly it was a good enough view to get the reg plate and who knows? if a car was damaged and the owner contacts nick, who contacts Happy, letters could be written, statements taken and monies paid.
What's not to like? Or does it make you glad that someone gets away with damaging someone elses car.
Perhaps the anon drives a blue Xsara.
Good for you HB. The bus driver can now be identified and provide a statement. @Anon, with such stupid comments I can see why you choose anonymity.
it's good to have faith in the insurance business, they're there to help you, of course, and a lack of any kind of evidence is looked upon favourably
a very useful post indeed HB and I hope the person that did it gets caught. It is extremely annoying when your car gets scraped and the driver disappears...thanks for taking the time to post here!
@insurance bitch (and anon@15.48...same person?) you are missing the point entirely. The owner of the scraped car has zero chance of finding the perpetrator themselves. With the link to the damaged bus which HappyBrockers has so helpfully provided, there is now at least a slim possibility that with the bus company's assistance the perpetrator can be tracked down and made to pay up.
Though based on the description of their style of driving there has to be a good chance that he or she doesn't even have a licence, let alone insurance.
Yet again, who is the one commenter in the thread, so far, that is crassly abusive.
@Nerve - Anon15.48? Anon 1603?
I've got an admirer!
A very helpful and useful post - thanks HB.
I came home on Sunday night and discovered my wing mirror (on the road-side of my parked car) had been smashed up. Most likely by an irresponsible driver clipping it as they sped past. Very frustrating!
Depressed car owner - same's happened to me before. Red paint down the car also pointed to a bus being the culprit. Stupidly I asked my insurance company for advice. Decided not to take it further as the bus hadn't reported the incident so I risked loosing my no claims. I bought a new wing mirror for £20 changed it myself and lived with the paint but my bloody premium still went up £60 and every year since! Grrrrr

There's nothing wrong with a good, honest scratch on the side of the car. Gives them character!
Most buses have CCT these days. If anyone thinks they have a claim they should speak to the bus company to see if anything was picked up on them.
Thanks for posting, sir/madam.
Too often people get away with similar crimes in London and it is good to see people looking out for others and doing the right thing, even if a bit of a nuisance.
Aha, the other face of the anonymice.
Mung!
Anon 23:17. Is that tourettes or do you just suffer from chronic immaturity?
Just don't have a car in Zone 2 London. Problem solved!
Or dont have a car full stop.
Not have a car? Have you been on public transport, it's like an Ark.
An ark? Id rather like a trip on an Ark. Point please.
Unfortunately this reg number or car make is either wrongly remembered by HB or not recognised as belonging to a Citroen - and therefore false.
You can all try putting in the reg number of any car and the make to find out the current tax status of it on the DVLA database.

The number plate belongs to the bus.
