TK Maxx New Cross opens tomorrow [UPDATED]
When we first wrote about TK Maxx's plans to open in New Cross, Twitter's south east London synapses lit up like a Christmas Tree. We never realised that it excited such passions among so many. Well the big day arrives tomorrow and the new store, next to Curry's, will sell men's, women's and children's clothes, accessories, shoes and toys.
It opens at 9am tomorrow and they're offering a £10 gift card to the first 500 customers through the doors. It will be like the August riots all over again.
UPDATE: At 9.44am one of BC's Twitter-buddies reports all the gift cards are gone and the checkout queues are already 30 deep.

bagsy any XL Chunk Star Wars Tshirts...
Chav couture...how depressing.
It also looks like New Cross will be getting a deli of sorts selling organic produce.
It's called "The Allotment" and will be opening up next door to The New Cross House. They tweeted a picture of their neighbours here
TK Maxx is brilliant. Recycling old lines and past seasons clothes at a great price. Its not for chavs for goodness sakes Maurizio you sound like a terrible snob.
TK Maxx is ok in my opinion. All the like products arranged by size. Perfect for most men.
Maurizio is obviously a bit of a snob.
TK Maxx is great! If it has what you want it's perfectly fine, it's easy to look down your nose at if your a tosser though
Last week, Westfield Stratord, this week TK Maxx, New Cross, and the weekend Brockley Market...
Looting returns to New Cross :O)
Good honest clothing at a decent, working man's price. I can see why some here wouldn't like it.
Everyone loves a bargain, except maurizio who to be fare probably irons his underwear and wears to much hair product.
It is any wonder we have "chav" remarks if the introduction to the story links to rioting. Classic! Keep it foolish
!
Can anyone confirm if they're doing homeware?
@THnick - their site makes no mention of that. That doesn't mean it isn't so though.
I am by far the poshest person ever to live in SE4, and I LOVE T K Maxx- defo ain't just for chavs.
I spotted that they're adervertising homeware in the window on my way to Sainsbury's on the weekend.
Has anyone got that photo of the rented van loading up with stolen TVs at the back of Currys?
yes to homeware. I saw a plethora of stained glass vases (You know the ones :o))on the mezzanine floor as I walked past yesterday.
I remember seeing that photo (Matt-Z) on Twitter night of looting. Unsure who posted it now.
Is that the one emblazoned with one of our fav local hire companies?
Can we get confirmation of homeware being on sale...
Just popped in. Lots of loverly homeware, I loves a bargain.
