I'm trying to establish the facts.

ok. I believe it is closing on Monday. So last chance to hear live music there is this Saturday and Sunday. Not sure about this Thursday.

If true this is v. sad news. As a Brockley based business it would have good if this site had supported the Wickham Arms more. But then it's not in mould of what's aspired to.

Such as what anon?

Oh no! Has it been bought out by anyone?

They have been trying to sell it for a long time and there have been quite a few prospective buyers, so let us hope so.

@Anon 14.28 do one, will you? I have plugged the Wickham Arms relentlessly since I started this blog, it is my local pub and I know the daughter of the landlord and have helped her promote a number of events there. I organised the first ever Brockley Central drinks there and tried to round up as many BCers as possible to go there to watch last year's World Cup. You're the one with prejudices.

Do one yourself! Wally

Unecessarily rude... Nick strikes a very good balance in my opinion in flagging up news about and new events at the local pubs and businesses.

Anyone regularly reading this blog who might be interested in what's happening at The Wickham, the Honor Oak, Jam Circus, the Orchard, the Hill Station or whatever should have been made aware that they exist out there. Any more is basically down to them - the businesses and the prospective punters. Repeated and repetitive plugs would unbalance things and just give rise to more complaints.

Please encourage all BC'ers to come along to the Wickham for the last gigs...It's Bruise playing on Saturday.

Hello, it's me again, the anon from 14:23 who made a bit of a chump of myself by saying that this site hasn't supported the Wickham. This time, I've taken the time to read Brockley Nick's response and to look at all of the articles about the Wickham Arms on this site and I realise I was talking out of my arse.

So I'd just like to say sorry. I have a massive chip on my shoulder and sometimes I say things without thinking. All I can say in my defense is that we've all done it once or twice!

Oh, and my comeback at 15:54 was not only uncalled for, it was embarrassing. I'm not very good at comebacks. Just pretend I never said anything please!

Have a nice day.

Back to Hallowe'en Gardening - do also consider calling in at the Sandbourne Road Common Growth garden - probably the last of the regular openings this season. Hopefully at around 5 o'clock we'll be receiving a procession of children from the New Cross People's Library with the lanterns they've been making for the past few days. Squash and biscuits available, and possibly tea.
