Brockley: Not Brockwell

The Dude: Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.
- The Big Lebowski

Time Out makes the Brockley = Broccoli joke and then compounds the sin by saying we have a lido. And people wonder why South East London has a disproportionate number of local area blogs...

Time Out hates South London. I cancelled my subscription becuase I was sick of the jokes. The writing isn't as good as in it's heyday and it's no longer the only listings magazine.

agree with anon, but what other listings mag is there?

The Brockley/broccoli joke is ok and fine but confusing Brockley with Brockwell is just bad journalism. End of.

Time Out's coverage of south London is pathetic - they've only just discovered Brixton. I still buy it, mainly for the films and TV listings.

It'd be great if we did have a lido. Which of the local parks could one fit it? Or would an old brownfield site do?

Maybe they meant to say Lidl?

Could have simply taken the lid of the beautiful brick-built reservoir on Jerningham Road...

Perhaps they saw the swimming pool on Wickham Rd visible on google maps...

Even the local Mercury captioned a photo of the cemetery as .."Brockwell and Ladywell cemetary" last week.

Time Out is shit, it's always been shit (in recent years anyway).
What happened to that idea of launching an alternative listings mag, with good features and stuff? Someone should do that.

What's the swimming pool on Wickham Road? Is it in someone's garden?

Shit, but responsive and illiterate:

A leafy, arty Lewisham locale, Brockley has plenty to sustain you- from a pub theatre to boutique deli’s galore – get your greens in here.

Someone not from the area but who seems to have some desire to understand it is Ken Livingstone, who was in New Cross last night at one of "Tell Ken" meetings, lots of interesting ideas floated including the mayors's office bringing Southeastern trains inhouse and running it like the Overground.
