Honor Oak and Crofton Park mystery shopper

As revealed on the Brockley forumNotes of an Idealist reports a mysterious letter they received from someone planning to open a shop in Honor Oak or Crofton Park, asking residents to complete a survey, saying what kind of shop they'd use. It's a curious approach, but you can take part in the survey here: http://surveymonkey.com/s/MCSJHBN

If I was feeling cynical, I'd suggest that this is related to the recent refusal of planning permission of a building with a supermarket on the ground floor opposite the Brockley Jack.

Strange survey.

We're certainly not short of chemists or newsagents. Who would think of opening another in the current climate. As for local supermarkets, there are plenty of those too.

But a butcher or a bookshop on the other hand...

There is a butcher in Crofton Park already! And a very cherished one, Peter James.

A bookshop would be nice.

Hurray for Peter James.

Given some of the thinking going round, a new butcher would be a complementary addition to the meat offerings to the Crofton Park community.

I voted for a greengrocer or a baker. It is really hard to find decent bread in the Crofton Park area.

I saw the person distributing the survey. It's a local person and would imagine nothing to do with the refused planning permission for a supermarket.

How do you know they were local?

Familiar face, definitely local. Will keep my eyes peeled and brave to ask.

Butcher? no thanks. Those places pong. The chicken shops are bad enough.

Baker. Yes please.

Just because it's a local face doing the survey doesnt discount the link with the site opposite the Jack. The guy who owns the site, and who applied for the refused planning permission for the huge jutting building with a supermarket, went to the public meeting a while back. He said he was a local businessmen - and he owns Jam Circus (I am still a bit shocked by that!)
