Olympic Torch Relay visits Lewisham July 23rd

The Olympic Torch will pass through Lewisham on July 23rd 2012. LOCOG has unveiled the torch route today and the interactive map shows that the torch will pass through the borough on its way to the Olympic Park - a journey that takes in more than 1,000 cities, towns and villages.

Lewisham is an Olympic 'gateway borough', which means that it doesn't actually host any Olympic events, but it's near places that do. Southwark and Greenwich (natch) will also be graced by the Flame.

Full disclosure: LOCOG is a client at Edelman (our day job), etc and so on.

Looks like Catford and Peckham is the closest it will get to Brockley - presumably the handover points will be Lewisham and Southwark Town Halls.

I was enthusiastic about the Olympics now I'm just resigned to it.

Hopefully you're not competing then?

@Fed up: "I was enthusiastic about the Olympics now I'm just resigned to it" seems like a cue for another run of puns along the line of the "Jamica/Jakata" ones.

After all, I wasn't enthusiastic about the Olympics and now I'm for the high-jump.

A friend of mine was enthusiastic about them, but now he's making a run for it. And I had another friend who was enthusiastic about the shooting events, but he has been fired.

I bet someone here will still claim both of those are a 'trek'.

Hope they don't get mugged.
