Brockley Road upgraded from junk status
On Twitter, Brockley Kate reports that:
"The junk shop on the corner Cranfield and Brockley Road [which was closed down by the bailiffs] is open again, for short time only to sell off stock. The unit will then be taken over by new tenants."
There is definitely room for a good second-hand shop on Brockley Road, but this was not good junk.

Who are the new tenants, do you know?
one persons junk is another persons gold
Please please please be a new bar / cafe / restaurant, we need something to activate that parade of shops DESPERATELY!
Separately but also retail related, I notice that Portland Bookmakers up beside the Brockley Mess has shut down.
I guess their n
onsensical claim to offer customers a 'higher quality' betting experience didn't work.
However, there is a sign in the window proudly announcing that a new Coral will be opening there soon instead. Fingers crossed that means they will be closing their store across the street and we will have one less bookies blighting our high street.
Sorry to see it go, and only to be replaced by another street homogenising chain outlet.
Portland that is.
Corals want to open in the old Nationwide branch on Lewisham High Street despite there being 2 other bookies nearby....
Cafe/bar that doesn't allow pushchairs would be nice
Coral bookmakers are moving to the Portland bookmaker's site. They have both decided there aren't enough punters for two of them to remain open. So, yes, the shop site on the corner of Whitbread and Brockley Roads will become vacant. A creche perhaps?
Although there is a shop site already vacant around the corner on Brockley Road that comes with a cafe/restaurant licence and has been empty for a number of years.
The issue came up in PMQ yesterday and the government pledged to support local authorities seeking to impose tougher planning restrictions to reduce the number of bookies on our high streets. The PM ripped Ed Moribund a new one IMHO.
A cafe/bar with no one under 16 allowed would be perfect.
fanks fer all yor inerest. i am openin anuther barbershop.
A Junk sale !!
There are plenty of pretentious bars around if you want that sort of thing. Sadly, this shop is no more. I got a decent freezer from there, it wasn't junk. We can't all have pantries like Brockley Nick...
LOL

Is it an INSET day today?
Typical Brockley snobbery, some people can't afford new or bespoke!
"typical"? Nothing wron with second hand shops. Shops that spill their stock onto the pavement so it looks like a road crash is. How many people want to buy half tins of random paint anyway? Really?
Great how you pidgeon hole brockley as populated by snobs. Doesn't sound like you like it much round here. Personally I thing it's has snobs, non snobs, slightly snobby and every shade thereof. Including anon mental cases.
Plenty of pretentious bars? Well there is the orchard an the barge.......
It always surprises me when comments go on about Brockley being a posh area and full of 'Tarquins' or whatever. I mean, it's very nice and I'm sure there are people with a bit of money about but it's hardly Primrose Hill is it?
For God's sake don't go to Barnes either - you'll blow your tiny minds!
I went to Barnes once and watched some University types rowing up the river.
It was very busy and took ages to get served in the pubs. Haven't been back since.
If only there was another shop in Brockley where you could buy old fridges on the street, instead of all these pretentious bars!
Oh wait, there is!
3 years on and the class war still rages, mung v fried chicken is so f*cking boring
I love a good junk shop, but that one was rubbish. Literally.
I bought a couple of second-hand books there. It was nice having the books out on the pavement to browse through.
Was the junk shop pram friendly?
BC declares is "War on the Poor"
The 'junk' shop ceased to trade this day. Apparently it's due to become a childrens' clothes store.
I wouldn't be so sure Oracle. The way things have gone around here, it'll become yet another equally junky shop where people called Tristram can buy dishonest fare.
