For the nervous professional types of Brockley, the buggy is an important status indicator.
what new matron stolling proudly across Hillyfields with their Bugaboo or Pegperago would not be put out by another sporting a considerably more expensive Porche baby stroller.

One of the nicer things about Brockley is that it seems mercifully free of over-engineered buggies.
Just get yourself a good pushchair. They fit more easily in cars, buses and cafes, they are much cheaper and they do exactly the same job.
Stokke is the new must have not bugaboo....
The "wheels and kids in parks" lobby will be outraged. You won't be able to hear badgers foraging or some such.
Don't think anyone will ever be going back to those perambulators, but the babies might prefer their rocking motion
I can picture fathers on Clapham Common with one of those Porche strollers weeping as they scrape dog turds off the wheels.

Nothing says vulgar arriviste in stronger terms. A bit like the cars.
It would be quite something if we had both, to add the rich social mix that patrol Hilly Fields.
I see quite a lot of very elaborate baby buggies being pushed around Brockley.
I would not be at all surprised if an essay on the Semiotoics of the Baby stroller in the Urban Park is being written by some Goldsmiths type before long.
For the casual observer ,sitting in this new cafe playing baby buggy bingo, could make the procession of prams a little more entertaining.
If there is a Porche and a MacLaren, then one day Clarkson will have to cast is critical eye over the new models.
