NTO BORKCLYE BGADRE [UPDATED]
We had a quick look behind the scenes yesterday evening and although it's very much a building site, they had already succeeded in making it feel more spacious. The upstairs bar area in particular was a surprise: we imagined space for a few people lined up on stools along a bar, functioning as a holding area for the restaurant below, but they've found a way to create a (small) lounge space upstairs that, on summer nights when the front terrace will come in to play, will accommodate a decent number of drinkers.
There are still a few places on the treasure hunt for any last minute takers if they drop an email to brockleydesignhunt@gmail.com and the restaurant team will be answering questions for anyone who wants to knock on their door between around 1-3pm.
UPDATE: It's now confirmed that The Gantry is the restaurant and bar's new name, replacing the Druidic and ungrammatical Toads Mouth Too at 188 Brockley Road. More details about the new place, coming soon.

NOT BROCKLEY BARGED
Anon. Good grief. That's all.
Mungaux
More Barge bashing.....yawn...
Speaking as an honest fare traditionalist, I don't think any of what has been said here could be construed as Barge Bashing. The (fake) anagram's solution is "Not Brockley Badger" - Badger being a 21st century word for Brock.
@Anon1156 - how do you spell Barge?
Anon1215 has cracked the impenetrable code.
Whew!
I was like, REDBAG?, redbag,....Gadber, what's a gadber?
GT HARY NET ?
Hat Gentry?
The Gantry?
CBRNTLYABEKHEEO
The Gantry it is then:

And so slowly the soul of Brockley changes...
Any word on the fare yet? Good and honest, or artisan and dishonest?

"Head Chef - Neighbourhood Brasserie style Restaurant
We are looking for a professional, passionate Head Chef for a fantastic new venue in London, SE4.
This family run establishment, opening in May, is looking for a Head Chef who will look after a brasserie style restaurant serving simple, fresh, seasonal European style dishes within a facility that can get very busy during the Spring and Summer months. We are looking for someone who is calm under pressure and can deliver quality food, meet deadlines and handle stock ordering.
We need a Head Chef who has experience, and is able to manage a small team of chefs in delivering quality dishes whilst under pressure. The ideal candidate will have had at least 2 years experience within a high volume fresh food operation.
If you enjoy working with a strong and passionate team this could be the role for you."
Hmmmn not sold on the name. Let's hope the food isn't as disappointing.
Ganting
I like "The Gantry". Like "The Pantry" but with a "G". Also "a mount for a travelling crane". And remember a Dale Farm protestor urinated on the police from a gantry. Its all good.
The gantry. Hmmm. It's kind of interesting. Sounds like they are positioning themselves more as a bar than a restaurant with that name.
The name's fine. If it's good the name won't matter anyway. The Beatles is a stupid name - they did ok...
Top Chef has a simple name but does excellent fare, so your example works.
Really not keen on the name, The Gantry. Ugly sounding word...
They will be judged not by the colour of their sign but by the content of their fare.
Unless you're from Brocsoc, in which case it's more about the colour of your sign.

I got it right! What have I won?
What has a Gantry got to do with Badgers?
Brock is a medieval word for badger, which justifies its forced use everywhere.
so waht is the anagram???
Here's a little preview of The Gantry….

I like it. Sod getting approval from the Conservation Zone Police
Is "The Gantry" an anagram too? It's a very odd name.
Tangy hert?
Herty gnat?
Harty gent?
Ratty negh?
A gantry is a structure or scaffolding, like those overhead signs you see on the motorways. No wonder you lot don't know what it means.
It's a long shot, but it might refer to the terrace bar area to the front.
A Gantry can also be this type of structure when used to bring materials up a level.
Like the illustrations on their site.
So perfectly suited to a restaurant/bar then.
Nothing wrong with an enigmatic name in any case.
I'm sure Brockleys Rock didn't suffer from the brouhaha surrounding their apostrophe.
According to one of the online dictionaries, one definition is the area behind a bar where bottles, esp spirit bottles mounted in optics, are kept for use of display; the range or quality of the spirits on view. It can also be the support for a barrel lying on its side, apparently. So it seems relevant to me - but that's why I said they seem to be positioning themselves more as a bar. I am looking forward to an impressive display of spirits bottles...!
Ah...ha!
Sh1t off topic thread
They were stocking the fridges as I walked past yesterday. Looked like they still had a few bits and pieces to tidy up but opening can't be too far away
Cant wait for it to open - there was a half hour wait to place an order in the Orchard again last Friday night.... we need some more nice places to eat around here pronto :)
Anyone know when this is supposed to open?
