The online home for all things Brockley (SE4), St John's, Ladywell, Nunhead and Telegraph Hill
Sam Turner captured this bit of topiary magic in Brockley Rise. Let it never be said that Green politics has made no impact on Lewisham Council.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Hmmm... a penthouse residence OVER three stories completly out of keeping with it's surrounds. An arrogant and crass design by a so called 'bird'.
We're the BrocSoc consulted or does the crow have some dirt on a plannning Committee member?
They couldn't cut it down as it's illegal to disturb a nest, but pretty sure cutting the branches around it would have been a bit disturbing for nest occupants! Makes a great pic though...
Why cut at all during the nesting season?
As the workers will be on other jobs around the year. The birds will get used to it.
Yes, precisely, you can't have tree surgeons just sitting around for 3 months a year.
Doubt very much that the birds will get used to it.
And it depends very much whether the Tree Surgeons are employees or contractors, whether they can be expected to be 'sitting around for three months'. If employees can they be redeployed in any way?
Many jobs have a seasonal aspect to them. I had assumed that Tree Surgery had.
Wonder what mummy bird feeds its chicks on?
Discarded chips and burger buns?
Good on nest fare.
The way that the branch that supports the nest is at 90degrees...
... further to my earlier comment, I saw this tree heading to Standstead road yesterday evening and it's like real life has been photoshopped.
Passing by yesterday, I noticed that the branch & nest have gone!?!
