Dog boarding and kennels in Brockley

Elisabeth has been in touch to ask for advice about where to stick her dog while she's away, so please use this thread to discuss local hotels for dogs.

Ooooh, and if anyone has a recommendation for a dog walker / dog sitter / 'doggy daycare' (?!) I'd be grateful

Thought of giving us a bell?

Erm - not sure if this is someone called Moi, or some one being silly using French...
Are you looking for a dog walker/carer?
'cos I don't have a dog any longer but I miss one, and it would be ideal to take one out for a few walks. I'm retired, and have my own motor car, and can still walk a bit...

Moi, there are a few professional dog walkers and carers who use Hilly Fields. (Ignore the child above who often posts here.)

Take a trip there tomorrow and ask around.

Good luck

There aren't any local kennels. You have to travel out a bit, to Ruxley/Swanley; or I go to South Darenth: www.canadafarmboardingkennels.co.uk/

Bit of a trek, but it's good and on the way to Dover or Gatwick.

Re kennels and doggy daycare, why not phone some of the local vet surgeries and ask them who they recommend? Or drop in to one as they may have a noticeboard with pople advertising.

Exactly! Some champion doggers once on Hilly Fields are able to stay up for 6 hours or more.

As for yours - what size are we talking?

It's not actually for me. I know someone who is moving to the area and will be looking for a dog walker.

But thanks for the suggestions, I will pass them on.

There is someone in Ladywell who does dog grooming and I think they may do walking too. Sorry can't remember the name.

Odette at Mutterly Gorgeous on Adelaide Avenue grooms but not sure she sits or walks, check via her website though. BowWowMiaow offer a sitting service. I found my walker (no longer required thanks to redundancy) on Gumtree. Gd luck to your friend, most local dog owners are really friendly so hope to meet her out on our rounds!

The poster wanted kennels, not walkies !

I dog/house sit for my neighbours and friends quite regually and would be more then happy to branch out and offer a dog sitting service for other local people if they are interested?

I have cats but my friend uses DogKnows and recommends them highly. They take her dog for walks on Hilly Fields and to Nunhead Cemetery. They also looked after her dog when she went on holiday. J

So weird that there is a market for this. And there I was feeling funny about looking for childcare for my...human.

Thank you everyone! that was really helpful. Elisabeth

What is weird about it?

Yes, don't see what's weird about this at all. Thanks to the anon who posted about Canada Farm kennels - they look really good. Left it too late to book in there for August but will definitely use them in future. Spoke to them today and they were really chuffed to have been recommended on a blog.

I'm the anon that reco'd Canada Farm. It's really off the beaten track by the way! If you speak to her again say we used to board Ozzie the lurcher.

@ Daryl H - We have got in touch and met up with Sue Williams! She is great and lovely and will look after our dog next week. She was recommended by someone else as well. The great thing is that she is local as well, insured and CRB Checked as she as well can go to people's home for day walking.
@ Dex, i did phone my local surgery but they could not help!
@ others....Odette in Ladywell does not do boarding only walks and you have to leave only very near her on Adelaide Av/Hillifield but she does grooming.
I have also contactes PowWowMiaouw though they sounded very professional on the phone I am still waiting for them to contact me to let me know either yes or no to look after my dog!
Their is also another lady who does dog boarding called Michelle on Hillified/Adelaide Av.
Again that you for all info, i am now becoming a pro if anyone ask! lol

We have a dog walker who is absolutely brilliant. We've used her for over a year and couldn't recommend her more. She may be able to dog sit as well as walking. Her name's Leanne. Her mobile is 07931 247322 and email address is pukka-pooches@live.co.uk. Say that Kate (Archie's owner) passed her details on.

I can thoroughly recommend Dog Knows as well, they've walked my two pooches for four years, take small groups (usually three dogs) and give them lots of offlead running around. Mine get walked at Nunhead Cemetary and also Dulwich Woods.
