It's the only thing holding up Conways dodgy wall. More of this kind of thing please
Have Conways actually finished the repair of the station works? What about the low wall on the right hand side of the entrance that has about six 5 inch long screws sticking out of it and is missing it's coping stones. Perfect for a child to slip and take his eyes out.
Seems a bit pointless to put mosaics of flowers next to a flower bed already full of flowers. Why not have a more striking image or design? This seems a bit bland.
It's pretty, that's why.
Something tells me it's going to look a bit "Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre" in 10 years time but it looks nice.
You don't want to be walking past something "striking" everyday - a bland addition to the incremental beauty is just right.
Capture Arts here, thank you for your kind and lovely comments, we are happy to have been able to put another mosaic up in Brockley, thats 3 now, the cherry blossom, two outside John Stainer school and now this final mosaic back in the station!
The plants depicted in the new mosaic are canal grasses and valerian, both would have grown naturally alongside the canal when it was there, at least in the winter months we will still have flowers to look at!

I love the ones outside John Stainer, it brightens up my walk to the station every day.
A cross-selling opportunity I never pass up on. Talk about the Canals and Railways of the area in the White House, Kender Street tomorrow evening (Thursday) at 6pm - part of the New Cross Lewisham Local History series. And being repeated in New Cross Learning on the 18th.
And, thank you, Capture Arts. I should be more familiar with the Observers Book of Wild Flowers, but it is nice to know the names of the plants and that they are not just random. Can't recall off the top of my head what the medicinal uses of Valerian are, but just the sound of the name makes you feel better. Like Dittany.
