Gently Elephant summer sale

Brockley Road children's shoes and gifts retailer Gently Elephant has recently expanded its range of toys and gifts and has begun its summer sale. Helen says: "The Gently Elephant sale us now on, with up to 40% off most summer things and 10% off school shoes."

It's a white elephant.

Agree

Very niche.

Gift or toy shop like Just William Dulwich would have been much more useful.

Niche? You mean it only caters to children with feet? It sells toys and gifts. If you want another type of shop, great, go find an empty unit and campaign for one or open one yourself, but please don't moan about what we have.

I think it's very useful frankly! It's saved me schlepping to Lewisham, East Dulwich or Blackheath with a wriggly toddler...especially considering the 3-4 times we went in and they felt my daughters feet to declare no new shoes needed yet. I've just bought her new shoes from there - but I'll be popping in to see if there are some sandals on sale now that summer seems to have arrived.

There are lots of gift and toy shops around already - why dilute what you do well.

Sounds excellent - makes me wish my son was not now size 10 (adult)! Admirable honesty of saying no new shoes needed yet - the sort of integrity and long-term customer care that deserves to be rewarded by success.

Niche ?! haha that did make me laugh. I think you could describe pretty much any shop as niche with the exception of Tesco! MOT garage ? only test and fix cars ? very niche. Wetherspoons ? only cheap food and booze and no kids shoes ?

The toys are maybe a bit twee for todays kids, some more battery powered stuff could do well

Except that the battery operated plastic fantastic toys are readily available & keenly priced at tescos, sainsburys, argos, & every *insertmajorretailerhere*.com.... So yes, I guess Gently Elephant is niche, but in a good way.
Agreed re integrity of sales advice, clearly they are working hard to build a loyal customer base, they also offer a loyalty card unlike any of the local competition.

Re my last post...
Balls, have I just created an opening for an honest salesmanship troll to comment on fair sales practice in SE4 businesses generally...?

Battery powered toys are controversial, many of our members believe they are against the spirit and purity of the pastime. Indeed and insult to our members members as Colin puts it.
