Gulen's Wine Bar is now open, seven days a week. It's been converted from an occasional party venue to an always-on destination and early reviews from BCers suggest it does a mean cocktail.

Please post your reviews here.

I went on launch night and the cocktails were very good.

The music was also good and service great.

However, at £9 for a cocktail the prices are more like central london. £6 is more realistic and would help build up custom.

I also think the interior could still do with some thought, with more tall tables to help provide a bit of variety.

If a local fussy bar charged £9 for a cocktail or somewhere else charged £3 a muffin no one would bat an eyelid.

Went for a quick one on Friday night after dinner at Mo Pho. I was genuinely suprised it was quite busy at 2130 on a Friday night. There were 30 people there dressed to kill already, though it would be a much later afair for most. Did anyone stay out past my bedtime of 2200?

The two cocktails we had were very good. (Didn't get any names - sorry) There were two guys that were on the bar, medium built guy with dark hair was a pro and made an absolutely excellent Vesper martini from memory. The smaller built guy with fair hair took an age making my girlfriends Bison Martini and then chuffed too much cinnamon all over the top of it, but a good effort!

Not really my kind of place, personally would prefer a bit more of a seating area towards the front of the bar (if only they had a bit more standing space on the pavement even). Having said that I am a bit of a cocktail snob and am certain I'll be popping in now and again for an excellent cocktail after dinner before heading home.

I really think they should review their prices though, £9 a pop is the most likely thing to stop me going back...

I like the look of it from the outside, looking forward to trying it soon :)

@ Anon - I guess if you consider the cocktails too expensive you could just drink something else.

Very good cocktails, friendly staff and nice enough decor. Good addition to Brockley, but at £9 a cocktail I won't be going too often, particularly as the other options are mostly non-existent (no beers etc.)

I was also in on Saturday evening. We stopped off for a final drink after the last train to Brockley so it must have been around 12.45. We were the only ones in there until another small group came in around 1.

The cocktails we had were excellent and I was impressed by the staff all of whom were really nice and friendly. Decor is OK, feels a bit unfinished like they intend to put some more art up, but if they are going for dark and cool it seems to be working.

Same opinion as everyone else on the price though- it's just way too expensive for it to become a habit to drop by if it's going to cost me £9 for a drink. If they drop a couple of quid off the price then I could see it doing well...

Ruddy hell, £9 each?

That's more expensive than my favourite cocktail bar in Hoxton...

No beer ?!?! £9 for one drink ?!? For £3 more, we can buy a whole bottle of vodka at the off licence and get completely sozzled at home.

Anon....same principle for any pub or bar. Some people like drinking with other people. Thats why pubs work.

A new menu in the window suggests that most cocktails have now been cut to £7, which seems more reasonable.

If they also did some kind of 2 for 1 offer at certain times of the day or week I could become a regular.

went in on friday night. we were the only people there (we left about 9pm). place was a bit smelly (like raw meat) and i felt a bit embarrassed to be sat there. the music was recorded from the radio and the decor doesn't really justify the prices.

staff were lovely and i wish them well, but sadly i think they've missed the point somewhat

We went in on Tuesday night and it was completely empty at 8pm. Agree with other posts that it misses the point a bit.

Really terrible LOUD Eurodance music on a Tuesday night was a bit much to be honest so we left after one drink. A shame as I really wanted to like it, Brockley needs a late night bar. I hope it develops.

Hi,

I went here last night and I think things are improving. There was no smell and the music was great fun. Cocktails have been reduced in price (about £7) and as we went during happy hour and they were £4!

Really friendly owners and yummy cocktails, they deserve to do well and I hope they do. They even asked what we wanted to see there, so obviously care about getting it right.

Gulen's Bar is re-opening 1st April. Having just walked past it yesterday the notice on the window caught my eye. It is now a Bar and Grill. Oooh i'm so excited as i only live around the corner.

We have been waiting for a restaurant of this calibre in brockley for a long time. Excellent Sevice . Good food . good value. Perhaps don't need to try so hard with certain elements of the menu such as the bread in the Iskender which could be a little more simple. Eg pita instead of croutons. Would highly recommend this restaurant and will certainly be going back very soon
