It was with considerable sadness that I heard of Steve's death. The friends of Ladywell & Brockley Cemetery-Foblc used to hold committee meetings ( prior to moving meetings to Cemetery Chapel) in the BJ & Steve was unfailingly helpful, amusing & congenial. His presence will be sorely missed....Mike Guilfoyle-Vice Chair-Foblc

That's terrible news. I worked in the Jack for about 6 months in 2008 whilst doing a Masters. I haven't been in for an age but Steve was a fantastic boss and a lovely guy. He can't have been that old; what a dreadful shame. My condolences to all at the Jack.

I've only just heard this - came back from a work trip to see the sad news both in St Hilda's magazine and here. Sad news, and also a shock. He kept the pub (which we go to quite regularly) really well.
