Thanks to BCer Monkeyboy, who has downloaded the new takeaway app for the Royal Tandoori in Crofton Park and provided a screenshot of it in all its glory:

Please post your reviews of the restaurant here.

Plates of curry don't make the best picture, especially when reduced to smaller than a postage stamp (the picture, not the curry) but good luck to them with their endeavours. I'm sure monkey boy will be one of their prize customers, and it'll give him something useful to do with his iPhone.

Nothing to disagree with in that last post, although my clogged arteries belong to Babur

Royal Tandoori's pretty good for a delivery. They seem to be into their technology too. They have a caller id system on the phones, so they always address you by name when taking an order and they often text about deals that are on offer. It's quite nice to see a small local business embrace a little bit of technology when they could easily not bother.

It's really good to see a business trying with all the possible marketing avenues open to them and not being scared to try something new.

Sadly for them, I also favour Babur. I used Royal Tandoori once and it was nice, but just not as good as Babur.

If we order Indian - this is our shop of choice - helpful pleasant staff

Anyone come across the Bombay Bicycle Club? I have heard that their take-aways are The Business.

Is this true?

Cinnamons here for honest portion sizes - big silver trays, not little microwave pots of fare!

The Shapla in Crofton Park is the best takeaway in the area, I used to be a fan of Babur but like many others I have found their food has gone steadily down hill over the last couple of years.

Remember Babur's takeaway is a very different beast from the restaurant, which I think is going from strength to strength (although I'm a bit surprised by the recent "Best Indian in London" award). I've never been overimpressed by Babur's takeaway kitchen but if I'm in the mood for a treat then Babur's a la carte at home option is very good. Don't be surprised if you end up spending more than £20 a head though.

For day-to-day takeaway my choices are rather coloured by my other half's need for a decent veggie option, ideally some variation on paneer tandoori. Current favourite is Barakah in Sydenham, which delivers to SE4. Found on Hungry House I think but now deal directly. They also have the caller ID thing going on so you get a personal and friendly service.

Only tried Royal Tandori once, it was fairly standard. Like the app idea, it saves your details and you can pay by PayPal which is very neat. Anyone used it? does it work?

Used to order Bombay Bicycle Club when lived north of the river. Pretty good, but fairly expensive and not a patch on Babur a la carte.

We've been favouring Cinammon recently - as already said great portions and very tasty. Got fed up with the long waits for the Babur take away.

Royal Tandoori is certainly above average and good value when they text you voucherss Essence of India opposite the Barge is also not bad at all.

I moved into Brockley about 3 years ago and tried Royal Tandoori,The Shapla and Ladywell Tandoori. Ladywell Tandoori was my favourite and they also gave 2 free beers with orders over £12. I'm stuck in my ways and now never tried any other Indian in the area (Except for eating in at Babur a couple of times.)

LT never seems to come up in discussions about good Indian restaurants in the area. Not sure why not?

I have heard quite few good things about Cinnamon so am keen to try it out.

Nouvelle Spice on New Cross Road gets my vote, massive portions, everything tastes really fresh and is not greasy and you can order online (and not a bright red sauce in sight) :)

The debate rages! Tried cinnamon three(?) times. Always underwhelmed and have found the essence of India poor. The Babur takeaway is standard stuff but I think done better than most. As always, a restaurants reputation is only as good as its last meal. It a tough bussiness to make work.

I quite like a bright red sauce. Red = honest.

Bright red sauces didn't used to bother me but now; bright red sauce = appearance of having swallowed a basketball + pain!

We are regulars with Royal Tandoori and I prefer them to Shapla or Babur Takeaway (which I found really disappointing) - they are always friendly and often do discounts which they will text through to you. I have shopped with the iPhone app and it does work!

Royal Tandoori is our local take away of choice, you always get really friendly service and the curries are yummy. Ask for recommendations if your stuck for what to order, we've got hooked on the Lamb Saag after it was suggested to us.

I have tried all the take aways and Indian restaurants in the brockley area and have found royal tandoori to be the best takeaway with very friendly service all the time. But when I go out for a meal I always go to Babur restaurant as there food is nice as well with polite service too. But its ashame I can't say the same about Babur takeaway as the quality is not the same as the restaurant.

I have been a regular customer at the royal tandoori for the past 10 years and their food has been constant all through out and has always tasted as good as it did from the very first day I used them.

In regards to the app I have been using it since they told me about it, it couldn't have been any easier as picking up the telephone. Always works and all it takes is a few simple clicks.

I wonder if their bathrooms were also done by Anthony? If so Brockley is doubly blessed by top notch artisans not only in sanitaryware fitting, but also in the provision of top notch curries by this illustrious emporium.
