Tea Factory cafe under offer

The cafe space at The Tea Factory, which has lain empty since Tea Dance for Little People departed earlier this year, is now under offer.

Although a slightly awkward site with relatively little footfall, away from the main drags outside Brockley Station, this is one of the few remaining commercial spaces of any size in the vicinity. Given that we've seen a record-breaking wave of new businesses opening in Brockley this year, it's no surprise that there's interest in this spot, especially as Martin's Yard will be opening soon, only metres away.

We look forward to seeing what becomes of it.

A new restaurant would be awesome! fingers crossed ...

An establishment that served a breakfast would be most welcome - I can't be bothered to make my own

this is great news! i live in the tea factory and would love a nice place to have a cuppa downstairs. i wish whoever has put the offer in all the best - they are going to need a lot of patience to deal with the property manager DPS!

Good effort guys to try to stop this happening:

Maybe they'll reconsider and head to some other part of town.

I'd like an honest cafe to open in that spot.

What's an honest cafe? Is that a cafe that's really a cafe, not one that masquerades as a stationery store?

this is quite nice from the estate agents website (their Capitals):

BROCKLEY IS A VIBRANT MIXED COMMUNITY IN LEWISHAM IN SOUTH EAST LONDON AND IN OUR OPINION THE AREA IS SOON BECOMING A FASHIONABLE LIVING LOCATION FOR LONDON COMMUTERS.

soon becoming chaps, soon becoming (in their opinion)

also they declined to say that anybody going to the station is, due to the entrances at the station, unlikely to go past this property.

Supercuts could relocate however, they don't need passing trade so much.

What we need is like some little shop / cafe place that's JUST for kids, with dances and do-and-make sessions and screaming and crying and paint everywhere.

Seriously though, a Daunt Books would be a good addition to the area.

Maybe a Starbucks. I like their bold stand against horrible taxes

Daunt Books is good. But whos going to buy anything!

We DO need a cafe for kids! I really, really miss Tea Dance for Little People.

Right - does that mean there will be noise or there won't be noise?

Difficult one to figure out, that.

But they're just deaf, not deaf offenders?
