Brockley's Greatest Champion
President: This is your President. On behalf of my country and in the name of the other leaders of the world with whom I have today consulted, I hereby abdicate all authority and control over this planet to General Zod. Only by following all his directives will the lives of millions be spared... Superman! Can you hear me? Superman! Where are you?!
General Zod: Who is this Superman?
President: You'll find out and when you do-...
General Zod: Come to me, Superman! I defy you! Come and kneel before Zod!
- Superman 2
Food blog Cheese and Biscuits has created this zone 1-2 London tube map, with each station name replaced by the restaurant that the creator feels is the best representative of the area. In Brockley, Brockley's Rock is our nominated champion, while in New Cross, London Particular has the honour.
BCer Stef, who tipped us off, reckons this will prove a controversial choice with Brockley Central readers. What say you?

Oops. I advised him on the London Particular and Panda Panda choices. Be kind! *battens down the hatches*
They're great choices, but Panda Panda is much closer to Deptford Bridge than New X, and the Particular closer to New X than NXG.
LOVE PANDA PANDA!........best local munchies hands down.....oh and my local Cinnamon....best indian takeaway......and of course mezze mangal!.......
I may also have had a hand in this. Plenty of options to choose from but I felt that, of those places within shouting distance of the station, Brockley's Rock had the most to offer in terms of quality and general appeal.
Brockley Rock, you must be kidding us, I've had half baked scampies, over-baked fish and other unpleasantness from this place, the Orchard and the Gantry are so much better, get real!
Don't know why they couldn't have picked Fishy Business or Top Chef, but at least it's on the right side of 'Fare.
Major disagreement here. When I think great food + Brockley, my mind immediately goes to Meze Mangal.
Had a lovely saveloy and chips from Fishy Business the other day. Gantry is nice if a little erratic.
Had a great battered jumbo from Fishy Business on Friday. Best food in Brockley and therefore criminally underlooked.
As Brockleys Rock is in Ladywell I think it's wildly inaccurate championship
However, great choice on Masters Superfish for Waterloo... Best Fish and Chips in London (and honest too)!
Meze bats for Deptford Bridge
Ladywell is in Brockley
Brockley's Rock is awesome; good choice.
Surely this accolade should have gone Fantastic Morley? The clue's in the name.
Meze Mangal is on the map, for Deptford Bridge, which geographically is closer... So seems fair to me (plus it's not the best food in Brockley).
The Savoy in Lower Brockley is great.
Lizzie - I would have gone for smokey jerky and the peculiar. But I wont argue really.
Oh, and have you got option lined up for Peckham etc for the ELL extension?
Can't understand Brockleys Rock inclusion. I agree with a previous poster that the food is not always well cooked and on more than one occasion the pies and sausages have been cold. The Orchard or The Gantry get my vote.
But 22:30 it needs to be a good honest food place

"As Brockleys Rock is in Ladywell"
Eh? Its very much in Brockley and nowhere near Ladywell?
I love Brockleys Rock, excellent food, friendly service and great prices and they do BYO for a cheap meal out. Love it!
Looks like the Guildford Arms and Meze Mangal are the wrong way round to me
I assume "Brockley's Rock is in Ladywell" is good, old-fashioned trolling.
My experience of Brockley's Rock is mainly positive, the exception being one undercooked cod during their Saturday early evening rush hour, which I couldn't be bothered to take back. Generally it's very good, and if it's representative of Brockley's image, it's not a bad one.
Why no love for Fishy Business, dog whistlers?
Who cares? It doesn't include train stations, so you can bet your bottom dollar it was produced by north london tossers (also as evidenced by the highly unoriginal theme). You shouldn't be providing information to people who wear glasses despite having 20/20 vision and say 'very clever' instead of laughing. They don't define London, they just moved here 5 years ago...
Yawn! What if you moved here six years ago? Or ten? It's a bit of fun. Get over yourself, cynicism doesn't equate to incisive commentary. You remind me of the spotty youth who get into postcode wars. Silly boy.
Do I know you?
Welcome back BDS you have been missed!
"I assume "Brockley's Rock is in Ladywell" is good, old-fashioned trolling. "
it's a fact, unarguable, that Brockleys Rock is in Ladywell
Are you seriously arguing that whilst Brockley station is in Brockley, and Crofton Park is in Brockley (after all, Crofton Park is just the name of a train station) that a point between the two is not in Brockley?
Are we talking Ward, Postcode or Geographic boundaries here?
Frankly my dears I don't givadam!
crofton park isn't in brockley, it's in crofton park
But Crofton Park is just the name of a train station in Brockley.
now you're splitting hairs
Ah.. Then question that foxed even Socrates.
Is somewhere Brockley because we call it Brockley or do we call somewhere Brockley because Brockley is what it is? Either of those do not get to the essence what BROCKLENESS is.
It is Brockley. Thus spake Brockley Central. THE END.
things don't become so just because you say so Nick, although that is the basis of your fantasy of course
Anon, The chippy called itself Brockley's Rock. It's too late, fall back and consolidate your position at the ladywell border. We're coming for you.
Brockley Road is also called Brockley road but it isn't in Brockley for it's complete length - the owners of Brockleys Rock obviously have no cartographic skills, which may be just as well, and surplus to requirements in the world of fish-frying and chip-making.
Now that's what I call bollocks - both ends of the road are in brockley, therefore the middle has to be.
Reading the above its a little clearer why the Israelis and Palestinians are lobbing rockets at each other.
We should be championing more honest féyre
part of brockley road is in Ladywell
