Good timing for closing our police station.

According to News Shopper, he was injured from broken glass, rather than actually being shot.

Still, not particularly nice for the chap either way.

How would closing a police station in Brockley that is only open at lunch time have any impact on night time shootings in Honor Oak?

If only the shooting was on Fireworks night - I've never seen so many comm supp officers in Brockley.

Oh how they told us to not light fireworks in the park. Oh how they did!

So a shooting in Honor Oak next to a Co-op in "West Brockley"?...

The News-shopper say it happened on the corner of Nash and St Norbert Roads - Thats just over the tracks from my Crofton Park gaff. I'd probably call it Brockley rather than HOP but its about half way between the two...

Wherever it is, not good having guns on the streets and nutters firing them off.

Plus there was a murder in Lewisham outside the library on Sat night.

St Norbert Road is in the Honor Oak Estate, SE4, London Borough of Lewisham. You can call it Honor Oak, Brockley or West Brockley.

Not a good weekend for Lewisham - a 22-year-old man was murdered in the High Street on Saturday evening.

Westsider: In that case we should definitely close it down!

Sounds like another drive-by shooting incident.

Feuding gangs of out of control kids.

Jesus enough of this stupid bickering over neighbourhoods it happened about 5 minutes walk from Brockley station it was Brockley, and it affects everyone, bullets don't stop at imaginary geographic boundaries.

I actually heard the volley of gunshots as I was walking down the street and I initially thought it was fireworks, until going to the Co-op. I've lived here for 10 years and in London for 20 and I have never heard gunshot before, add to that someone got stabbed on my street a month ago, and Brockley can still be quite a dangerous area.

They should not close the police station, it may not be fully operational, but some people are a lot more likely to report any suspicions (like kids with guns) at a local station rather than call the police and have them come round to their house or flat

Very good point - body language and eye contact. You can stumble through difficult stuff to convey more easily face to face than over the phone.

not really Brockley but... http://www.standard.co.uk/showbiz/celebrity-news/shia-labeouf-gets-into-a-fight-in-south-london-pub-8306196.html

@Anon 17.11. I'm the anon behind the West Brockley co-op, Honor Oak shooting.

My point is not that bullets don't cross borders, but of the PR spin on this. That Co-op opening was deemed as a good thing. That co-op is in West Brockley according to this site. The shooting is at the same location, but happens to now be in Honor Oak. It's Brockley "help Brockley house prices" Nick's spin on the story.

I meant West Brockley, Honor Oak shooting comment, not the shooting. Oops!

The issue with shootings and stabbings rise every now and then round here and if the pattern follows someone has stepped out of line with his drug patch and west Brockley lewisham or posh Brockley gangs will fight to keep the trade in drugs.
The police station is important here as the community support officers run from here and have replaced the wardens in west Brockley. Keep the presence local .

Yeah it happened out side my flat,, as someone mention before, 3 loud bangs went off and a scream its sounded like kids with firework again ..
I only notices what was happening when the police turn up...this is not good as I see a lot of kids out and bout late roller skating on a school night and hanging round at dark areas of st norbert rd all the time. I for one dont feel safe and would like to see more police about in this area at night.

to all question on the address it's Brockley !!

There was a shooting on Foxberry Rd a year or so ago. A car full of kids came looking for one of their enemies.

They found him, shot at him several times. Lucky for him they missed and he managed to escape, seeking refuge in the coffee shops next to the station.

I don't see how the police station closing will do anything to address gang members taking pot shots at each other like this.

If has been far, far worse in the past when the police station was open much more.

Apparently it was 2 Tamil gangs fighting in Lewisham on Saturday.

@Anon1906 - if I was motivated by house prices, I wouldn't have reported the news at all. As it was, the LBC story said Honor Oak and I was in a hurry before leaving for a meeting, so reported it verbatim. It's true, this is west Brockley, rather than HOP. This is why we should just call everything Brockley, to avoid such silly confusions. But it amuses me that you were annoyed.

I am quite concerned about the amount of recent shootings in this area. I live on Howson Road, on the "other side" of the footbridge to the Honor Oak Estate. It seems I have chosen to live on some kind of gang boundary, judging from the shootings in recent months.

On one hand, I feel angry but have resigned to the fact that idiots in cities all over the country are fighting over postcodes; on the other hand I feel pretty bloody worried I may be caught in the gunfire one day when walking home with my rocket salad and hummus bought from the Co-op.

I don't think there's an easy solution, but I wish there was. Perhaps I will move to the countryside with lots of middle-aged people where the only boundary disputes are over garden fences.

Interesting debate as to what area the shooting took place. The area is the Honor Oak Estate which most people who live there call Turnham. It is closer to Brockley Station than Honor Oak.

you do realise if you start reporting on crime on a regular basis it will start to takeover BC...

sorry, in a bit of a rush, have to go to a meeting, but could someone tell me exactly where 'west brockley' is? I've looked on a fairly detailed map of the area but for the life of me can't find it.

Anon @20:13, roller skates you say? KILLER KIDS ON ROLLER SKATES! My advice, move to the top of a hill, that would thwart the wheeled assassins. Failing that, cover the 100m of pavement around your flat with thick carpet thus slowing the relentless pursuit in a frenzy of snagged skate anger.
