Jam pact

A quick update from the Jam Circus team, hit by fire just before Christmas. They say:

Unfortunately we still can’t say when we will be back up and running but we will be back! Anyone having trouble getting hold of us for a refund on New Year’s Eve tickets our email is jamcircus@antic-ltd.com. Thanks.

Am I the only one who thinks that it's a little odd having such a long & vague delay getting a very successful bar up and running again after a seemingly small fire? Is there an issue with insurance? The bar is utterly closed with no repair works going on at all. They've clearly lost a fortune over their busiest period of Christmas and New Year, are they revaluating their business interest???

So saddened that this has happened to the poor old Jam. I hope all the staff are OK and not broke over Christmas :( Really can't wait for you to re open, you've been missed!!!!

I think the answer is that it was not a small fire. They suffered a lot of damage and people I talked to who know about these things said it would take a long time to remedy. As for insurance - insurance companies always take a long time to pay out. They've said they're coming back. I see no reason to doubt it. They are opening pubs all over the place at the moment and all evidence suggests JC does well.

Maybe the go slow is a passive aggressive action directed towards the anti-Tesco protesters

But as mentioned, they've missed out of their busiest time, why would they spend extra money to re-open in January? And it's not just money, who says they have the management time to spend on this? Or can find tradesmen to do the work at short notice?

Things like this can't be thrown together as fast as you clearly think they can. Between planning, contracting and funding is be surprised if they were open before February. Patience folks, they'll be back.

Hey "Slow Anonymous", I'm not up on all the details on Tesco and Antic in Crofton park. However, one of the concerns of the Anti-Tesco protesters, aside from getting an unwanted corporate grocery and glass condo (See Brooklyn, circa 2006) on the high street (if you are indeed talking about the horrendous pink wall across from the Jack), is that because the project is stalled due to poor planning and a really poor idea we are left with a horrendous pink wall across from the Jack. Quite petty and missing the point if Antic is stalling the re-open because their feelings are hurt over the community's outrage.

Of course that's not the reason, the post you are referring to is clearly a joke.

I live in the flat above, I can assure you it wasn't 'small' fire, the flat next door to us was completely burnt out, as was our stair case..Jam is now for sale, because Antic have gone into administration, it's a sad day :(
