Parliamentary debate about Lewisham A&E's fate
Labour MP for Lewisham East, Heidi Alexander, tweets:
Just found out I have secured a 90 min debate in Parliament next Tues on future of A&E & maternity services in South London. The debate will take place from 9.30am-11am. A Minister will have to respond but it won't be Jeremy Hunt.
With thanks to Richard for the tip off.

Why won't he be there? Great to get the issue discussed though
Well done Heidi
Indeed, pity he won't be there and very well done Heidi.
Is it possible to get into the public gallery?? Or to lobby??
Best of luck Heidi, who is the debate with if Jeremy Hunt can't/won't debate it with you?
In fairness to Jeremy Hunt (though why I don't know..) Secretaries of State never respond to this kind of debate, so he's not shirking it's just the way the system works. It will be responded to by a more junior health minister - it should be the Minister with the closest responsibilities, but could be any of them. I'm assuming this will be in Westminster Hall, where there is a small amount of public seating, which you can get to by going along to Parliament and queuing up in the usual way.
Well done Heidi and good luck
