Bye: The Last Man
Lewisham Deptford is one of five London seats which will be subject to all-female Labour shortlists. Harriet Harman, Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, said: “I am calling on women to put themselves forward for the All Women Shortlists announced in London."
All-women shortlists are probably the least-worst solution to the challenge of creating a more representative House of Commons.

Yep, was torn between Bye: The Last Man or X: The Last Man (as in X to cast your vote). Consulted someone on which would be better and was told that either made me a self-absorbed sexist pig for choosing a headline that focused on the male angle, rather than celebrating the achievements of women. So I went with Bye: The Last Man.
In the 2010 General Election the top three candidates were women: Joan Ruddock (LABOUR) (54% of the votes cast) who was elected, Tam Langley (LIBDEM) 23% and Gillian Townsend (CON) 13%, so 90% of the votes cast were for women.
It looks as though a woman candidate who is likely to win encourages other parties to also choose women candidates.
