Crofton Park bar plan approved

Lewisham Council has given approval for Mr Lawrence's former wine shop to be converted in to a bar. A tenant who operates a microbrewery (not this one) has been found to run it, but the date for the opening is not confirmed. More soon.

Excellent news!

I thought that it was going to be an extension of Mr Lawrences. So this will be in competition to it?

You wait 25 years for a microbrewery to come along and then two come together!

Good luck to them.

It will be a completely different biz. Competition, or complementary, depending on your point of view. More bars on a strip means more people drinking in CP, means everyone wins.

@Jimwild1 I spoke to the owner's sister, who works in the shop, about the plans. They're certainly seeing it as complementary rather than competition. She explained that they want to see something that's good for the area, and it won't be competition as they'll be very different beasts. There's even talk of Mr L's supply takeaway beers there.

I miss the shop but have high hopes for these plans. There's nowhere I particularly like going for a beer locally in the absence of Jam Circus.

This place sounds great, should be a really nice addition to the area. Any news on the Jam Circus / Antic situation?

As of about a week ago they're still waiting for the insurance company to sign off.

Given the size of the damage it's not surprising it's taken this long. They reckoned late spring for reopening.

Plus the fact that the owners have gone into administration. How does it work with insurance - can the administrator or a potential new owner claim off the previous owners insurance?
