Founding Father

He knew only that his child was his warrant. He said: If he is not the word of God God never spoke.

As a father with two kids, who works all week long in the city, with a loving wife who could do with a break, I think it would be nice if Brockley fathers in the same boat could meet up on Saturday or Sunday morning and enjoy spring mornings. We could arrange visits to places like the Horniman, Hilly Fields or Dulwich.

If people are interested, I'll suggest a meeting point.

there is already a quite well established dads group in the area that you might want to join/speak to about more weekend stuff

That group is excellent but they don't do weekend events much and it is geared towards dads who are the main carer as opposed to weekend time for mum while dad takes the kids out. Also a lot of the events are greenwich way as opposed to Brockley. I think this would be a great idea indeed, I know my partner who works all week whilst I look after our son would absolutely love this. Sadly he isn't really able to access the events of the other dads group.

Try contacting Oak Hill Nursery - 020 7639 6047 (I think) - they have/had a very active Dads' Group - obviously working parents so evening (pub) and weekend activities.

Might be open to new people not actually connected to the Nursery.  Worth asking anyway.

Assume this might also be open to mum's who work full time and also have kids at the weekend? I'm afraid I've never had the desire to be part of a mother and toddler group - not my scene. Prefer to be around people who are working plus have kids.

An ace idea, and I'd be up for joining something new rather than breaking into a pre-established group with in jokes I won't understand. . .

Yes, contact SE London Dads: info@selondondads.org.uk / www.selondondads.org.uk. We're mostly dads caring for our kids in the week, but sometimes we have events on at the weekend too. We'd really like to help working dads connect together with their kids. We can help publicise events you are planning. We are often contacted by local working dads so it just takes someone to plan a meet-up.
You might also like to contact Tim Neville and his team from Pre-School Learning Alliance who as a Lewisham borough-wide remit of supporting fatherhood; as well as being all round great bloke. www.lewishamdads.com twitter: @lewishamdads
