The Malaysian Deli

Crofton Park's new Malaysian Deli (338 Brockley Road) is run by Amy Mustafa and two colleagues and is more cafe than shop, with generous amounts of seating and a selection of beef, chicken, fish and vegetarian dishes, with a choice of rendang, peanut, spicy sambal or mild percik sauces and served with rice and salad or in a wrap.

Looks great! Are they on Twitter?

Not to my knowledge.

Why do you need to know that?

Great lamb curry on opening day. My partner who is Malaysian thought it was delicious. Not to mention the yummy sample of red velvet cup cake. We will be back. Wishing them every success.

Are they open Sunday?

Shame. I like hearing all the local businesses Twittering away during my day.

Now about that BC-led Top Chef review....?

Excellent news, hopefully will fill the gapeing void left after the demise of the Kaya House down at Deptford broadway.

I visited on Saturday morning and agree that it is much more of a cafe than deli. It looked like they had some interesting home made items for sale, but all of the curry pastes were generic packets.

Now I know it is more of a cafe I'm looking forward to returning and trying some of their food.

Went on Sunday, delicious, very good value, hope they do well. Has Kaya house gone for good then?

Dropped in on Sun, the food looked very good and they had massive slabs of some kind of what looked like carrot cake... I was tempted to try the cake but we were just passing so I couldn't stay, will definitely be back though...

I agree, the lamb curry is fab! The price is also reasonable and all seems home cooked. Food get warmed up by microwave so that's the only downside.

Yes, they are open every day - forgot the opening time but closes 8pm every day.

Could be really lovely unique cafe, interesting flavours, however very off putting the way they store their fish and meat on the counter and rice that is certainly not fresh and then whack in the micro. Quite amateur.
One of the staff members went in the back area, left the door open and had a cigarette, not very pleasant. Real question over standards and hygiene.
Possibly a reason they are so quiet compared to Arlo and Moe.

....which scored 1 in its food hygiene inspection

Well I'd disagree, amateur can be charming & we really like the choice on offer, eaten take away regularly from there & never disappointed, good value & should be supported more!
