New kitchen at The Amersham Arms

Gareth from The Amersham writes:

We are proud to announce that the Amersham Arms Kitchen has undergone something of a switch-around and is now running under new management. The big man in charge (Mr P) really knows his stuff – but we won't brag about all that he has done. We know that you will not be disappointed if you come and give us a try.

Everything we CAN make on site IS made on site, and what we can’t make on site comes from our good friends and trusted local sources.

The star players of our new menu are our bold, grizzly burgers – all at £8.50 including fries, they are not shy…they are really going to fill that hole in your face. We're also serving up hot dogs, BBQ and snacks like hummus and flat bread.

popped in here for a pint last saturday. place has unfortunately gone down hill in a major way - smelled of bleach and i'm-not-sure-what, we were the only customers, deco crumbling and sticky. used to LOVE the amersham a couple of years ago. guess places like the new cross inn have really stolen it's thunder...

to be fair the standard is pretty bad in new cross anyway.

nah not really - new cross inn is lovely, and the haberdasher has potential

Well maybe that was because they were in transition? The new kitchen team has literally started today. Anyway, I'm off there tonight, so will report back...

I quite like the scuzzy, low-key feel of the Amersham - I think it complements what else is happening in New Cross very well. NX pubs are in a pretty good shape I think.

I do like the place but have to agree it doesn't smell very nice when you walk in!

Can I ask Mr P, if he'd kindly wash his customers' puddles of puke off the pavement on Amersham Road before he goes to bed. So that I don't have walk past it on my way to work of a morning. Luminous pink puke greeted me this morning, not pleasant, I wouldn't if it was once in a while, but it happens 3-4 times a week. Luminous pink decorated the pavement this morning. Nice, and if it's not puke it's broken bottles and rubbish spilling out of the bins. Moan over. Thanks for listening.
