One night in Calabria in Brockley

Andy from pop-up dining company The Black Cat Bistro writes:

I'm pleased and in no small way relieved to say that our first pop-up night in Brockley was a great success and we've enjoyed some really lovely feedback. So we're doing another.

On Friday 23rd August we are hosting 'one night in Calabria'. We'll be cooking up four courses of Neapolitan classics in Hilly Fields including homemade pasta, regional antipasti, seafood, and a good bit of chilli spice. The emphasis will again be on fish and veggie based dishes with a full menu available from next week. Reservations are being taken now and tickets will be available from the cafe from next week.

Geography and culinary lesson for the chef. Naples is not in Calabria, about the same distance as London to Manchester. Calabresi do not cook Neapolitan classics.

Any pics from the last one?

I'm sure Calabrians enjoy Neapolitan food, on occasion. It's "one night in Calabria", enjoying Neapolitan food. Sounds great! Wish I could make it.

Why isn't it called One night in Naples then?
Are the plates Calabrian?

Thank you first of all to geography please for pointing out the glaring omission of 'Calabrian and' before Neapolitan in the press release. Both cuisines will be represented. The menu has been lifted from the family cookbooks of two of my regular kp's, one from the heel and one from the toe of southern Italy. In the mean time our marketing department has been put on gardening leave to attend one of mr gove's more punitive re education centres somewhere outside Watford. We hope that he comes back with a more accurate world view and his twelve times table. In the mean time, mr gove asked that I bestow a gold star and a pat on the head to g. Please. Well done. All the best, Andy

Whatever about the geography, I can only say that Lady Nat and I attended the last of these pop ups and we loved the food and the setting and the setting sun.
