Brockley Park Cars and ACE relocate

Brockley Park Cars are departing their old home at 180 Brockley Road and relocating to Blackfen. The move will allow the mixed-use redevelopment of the site. In a valedictory post here, they say:

A big thank you to all our customers for your loyalty over the years if you wish to continue using us we can offer a free collection and delivery service we are keeping our existing phone number 0208 691 7666.

ACE Vans, who also operated from the site, have opened a new office at The Tea Factory.

Good to see ACE Vans go. Using the street as a parking facility for your fleet of hire vans is not cool. Then again, I guess they weren't doing anything illegal and Lewisham Council is to blame. Tea Factory will now be blighted by those shabby old trucks and vans.
I guess this means the development will shortly be underway. Great news!

Sorry to see Brockley Park Cars go, but glad to hear about the collection and delivery service - I'll definitely be using them again.

Yeah I have to agree, not to put down a local business trying to survive but the fewer scabby looking white vans cluttering the streets the better....

Would be good to see a decent eatery like Nandos in Brockley.

It would sit perfectly in a mixed residential/leisure development, a definite boon to an area hitherto besmirched by culinary mediocrity.

What makes you think Ace won't continue to park in a free and very public street, in front of a busy station and a stone's throw from their new office?
Fool.

I can't tell if you're joking or not.

Is it correct that the Garage ( Brockley Park) has been turned into £1.00 hour Car Park what an eyesore that will be

The sincerity may have been lost in the tone.

Wouldn't a Nandos in Brockley be nice though?

Rachel said...

well...not in my opinion. I think London has enough Nandos.

a nice independent restaurant/bar would be great though. or if it's going to be a chain I'd much prefer something a bit jazzier than Nandos...even a Wagamama would surpass it in my humble opinion.

this may be the first time ever that i dont violently disagree with tezza. i like a bit of nandos.

The Ace signage on the Tea Factory office is apparently not compliant with the lease/sublease (there is currently a big arrow pointing towards residents' front door which is nice). The Ace advert fixed to the rails next the railway bridge would presumably require permission from Network Rail or the council and I'd be prepared to wager, going on Ace's reputation (well documented on these pages I recall), there has been none. Cue an email to the council and the usual abuse from a few salt of the earth BCers. I would much rather they moved to an appropriate light industrial area, considering the nature of the business they run (light industrial).
P.S. I'd still like a CPZ and CCTV near the station.

Plenty of independent places to eat nearby but no Nandos for miles. And it would work there.

Even Nicky's pet chimp likes it so can't be that bad.

I think it was a different van hire company causing problems before. Most of the Ace fleet now seems to be parked in the 'dead zone' on Shardeloes Road between Millmark Grove and Vesta Road.

In some ways it's a shame to see the car lot and MOT station have gone, but at least they're staying in business. Many people commenting on this blog seem to want all the light industrial units in the area closed and replaced with housing and/or eateries shops. A sign of the times? I don't know, but it will be inconvenient when the last MOT place goes and there's nowhere close to get something fixed on the car.

Really disappointed to see Brockley Park Cars go!
I'm all for new developments but now a pound an hour car park -really!?!

Tim said...

Bu that's surely temporary until the redevelopment building begins, which is presumably shortly.

Brockley Nick said...

Yes, that's the plan. I'm going to ask the developers for an update.

Waggamammas! So untrendy now. Who actually eats there?

notochicken said...

Why on earth would Brockley need *another* place to eat chicken? Lord knows SE London has enough chicken establishments.

brockley man said...

Theres also a MOT garage in Geoffrey Rd.

Only for the chicken katsu which is essentially fried chicken covered in curry sauce, mmm.

Ace van parked on the pavement opposite the Tea Factory this morning completely blocking the pavement (near the nursery). B4st4rds.

Brockley Nick said...

Yes, I took a picture of that. I've seen another doing the same thing recently.

Used Brockley Park Cars for the first time yesterday and the collect and return service is great. Also found the advisory information really useful without being heavy on recommending that additional jobs be carried out. Would use again.
