The Brockley Way: Part 2

Brockley Way is relatively secluded and suffers from regular and spectacular flytipping escapades. Brockley's Twitterati have been highlighting some of the worst abuses in an attempt to deter dumpers and show the Council how urgent the issue is. This is another peach.

They should be lashed 100 times then dipped in vinegar.

Until Lewisham council start accepting more items at their recycling
centre, people will just continue to dump stuff around the borough. Not
saying it will completely stop it, but surely making it easier to get
rid of this stuff would prevent it a bit. Currently it costs 30 quid to
get rid of an old fridge. Soutwark council takes most of this stuff free
of charge.
If everyone sends a message to @EnviroLewisham it could possibly force them to change their policies. One can only hope.

Everyone can do their bit by not paying scallies who approach them to clear their rubbish. They sometimes even wear council-branded hi-viz. Obviously the council would never take cash for a job so it should be easy to spot pretenders...

Yes, although on my first morning living in Lewisham a bin man offered to take away an old wardrobe for £10 on the spot (definitely not a pretender since he was accompanied by other appropriately attired men and a refuse lorry). I declined & one of my neighbours took it away for reuse...

With £95m of cuts on the cards I doubt the council will be making this free in the near future...

Pah, they don't deserve balsamic... Chip shop malt would do the job...
