Fly my pretties

Stag Beetle Season approaches (they start to fly in May) so it's worth celebrating the fact that not only is South East London one of the world's most important habitats for stag beetles (thanks to our big gardens and plentiful supplies of rotting wood) but that Hilly Fields itself is a stag beetle centre of excellence.

This innocuous site in the park's wooded south east corner is a dedicated Stag Beetle Loggery.
