KR's Barber Station - now open

KR's Barber Station is a new gentleman's establishment at 308 Brockley Road (Midtown). Run by Musa, it appears, despite its hipster-friendly logo, to be traditional-enough to reassure even the most-ardent anti-gentrifier: Hot towel shaves, flat tops and beard trimming all available!

Until I hear a better name for it, yes.

Brilliant addition.

Now we need a dry cleaner that doesn't charge £3 per shirt

The cleaners next to Sainsbury Local charge £10 for five shirts.

Near Brockley station? Wasn't even aware they existed! Thanks.

So where can we find Uptown and Downtown then?

Poor chap. He's removed the hair from the wrong side of his head.

We are short changed! Their logo suggested an emporium for beardy hipsters. I was looking forward to a class war rant about the imminent Dalstonisation of Brockley. Instead the it looks rather like the Beat generation have found a place for a ear trim and head polish. There is certainly a market for that around here.

Nice friendly people, very good service and honestly priced. I recommend it.

O/T but has anyone seen a customer in that new clothes shop between the other barbers and the dry cleaners yet? It's the oddest place for a clothes shop I've seen. If it's not a front the owner has been extremely ill advised.

Had my hair cut here on Saturday afternoon. Musa seems like a nice chap. He has a young family and this is his first business; good luck to him. The haircut is good for the price (£12). I've had better for about the same money, but much worse for more than double. I'll go again, which is not something I can say about many barbers. I was also offered a drink when I sat down which is always nice.

The feel of the place is a bit hit and miss. It is a pretty big, empty-feeling room with a waiting bench on one side and the sinks and chairs (three) on the other. With laminate flooring, cheap-looking fitments and pixelated pictures clearly downloaded from the web, it doesn't quite match what I think of as 'traditional'. Gold or Magic FM blasting out of a tinny stereo - just no. A wait time just on the edge of acceptable for a barber (though I was quite close to the end of service on a Saturday, and he is hoping to fill those extra chairs soon).

All in all it's a decent-enough first stab which could definitely be improved over time.

I've just had my hair cut at KR's. I'm a quiff and pomade style so was put at ease by Musa's style and 'old skool' barbershop skills for a vintage style. I'll definitely return to sample the wet shave next time.

Slightly strange place, with work to be done to make it feel more established, but really good harcut at a decent price. A welcome addition :-)

Been there three times, friendly welcome, decent hair cut and reasonable prices. Only had a half a hot towell shave so far, but didn't even feel the blade. Impressed so far.

These barbers refused to trim and shape my son's beard 'because we dont do lines' - despite the shop being completely empty - very disappointing.

You allow your son to have a beard!, Is he a submariner or summat?
