Little Nan's Bar to open in Brockley

Little Nan's in Deptford
Deptford cocktail bar Little Nan's is coming to Brockley. We need more local options to drink and it's great to see an experienced team take a chance on Brockley. They say:

More soon.

scaffolding at 'Ask Toes' but the date sounds a little early to resurrect that heap.

Fantastic news! but where? what are the hot tips?

Drop the twee schtick, it's unbearable.

Don't go then! Plenty of others enjoy it. Maybe you should stick to the Barge.

Twee Schtick/Shabby chic/Ersatz Victoriana/Rockabilly

All these styles are fairly well worn and cheap to source.

Something Steampunk/Rococco/Bahaus would be new but maybe more appropriate up Town where budgets are bigger and the punters more open to such themes.

Twee Schtick is fine in moderation, but people overdo it and it ends up like some unbearably over-sugared Grayson Perry creation.

The eye would need to alight on a lot of ironic flourishes to compensate for that Teddy Bear.

Very exciting news!

Open your own then, thanks

I cannot believe that a new bar is bringing variety and more choice to Brockley and people are complaining about it.

Monkeyboy said...

doesnt sound like my cup of (ironic) tea but the fact that they have opened one and its successful enough to make them open another perhaps shows that they know what the punters want and the neigh sayers dont. good luck to them.

sounds good but.. said...

is this a 'pop up' or permanent venture?

The Barge @ 1000/1
Broca food market @ 100/1
Toes Ask @ 50/1
Birds Dress Agency 40/1
Somewhere a bit more towards Crofton Park 10/1

Well I know Tea Cups are a theme for them anyway, but the name suggests the empty unit in the Tea Factory.

It's going to be at The Hill Station. Fact.

A pop up bar. Fact.

Hey,
It's Tristan from Little Nan's. We are very excited to be opening up in Brockley at the end of May! The new Cocktail bar is planned to open for 6 weeks every Friday & Saturday night, and if Brockley likes what we do and enjoys our Cocktails then we will extend the duration with the plan to go permanent!
It's NOT at the Hill Station - We are however Co-Hosting a all you can eat and drink Dining Experience at the Hill Station with Barbados caterers and Brockley residents InaPikkle on the 17th May where our guests will be truly spoilt.

Hope to see you all in Deptford or Brockley soon x

Will this be the bar at Street Feast Hawker House which has been announced as coming to Lewisham (possibly at the current location of Brockley Market) on a fri and sat eve? #brockleyprivateinvestigators

Ferg said...

But... thats where the Hill Station is!

Street Feast is going to be in Lewisham proppa (Model Market). There is going to be a shandy bar somewhere and also a wine bar (Street Vin). It's currently set to start mid-June but may be pushed back a little.

Anybody care to say what it was like, or did the speculative not go, or were disappointed, or awestruck into silence? or found perhaps something so intriguing and once off that it was just theirs alone. I don't do cocktail, but I kinda would be interested to jhear feedback after all the menu and great aromas commentators.

I posted a comment somewhere about it (I thought on this thread but it doesn't seem to be here). I went to The Talbot a week or 2 ago and popped upstairs to have a look at Little Nan's. It was nicely done out with new curtains and a table in the middle but there was absolutely no one around... Not sure if it was just that night or whether it just hasn't been a hit in Brockley...

You posted on the other thread and I answered you - it only opens at the weekend - that's why it was an empty room when you went in the middle of the week.

Brockley...?
It's about 30min walk from my house and I live in Brockley.

NAT said...

That would be The Talbot's fantastic 2 courses for £10 offer, I take it; And I read your review that said nobody was there.
It's just that after the build up it would be nice to get a review, as closure.

Brockley Nick said...

Brockley's a big place and you're a slow walker.

ricenpea said...

Better pack my tent in case I get lost then. Do they offer overnight lodgings for weary pilgrims that have walked from Brockley?

Brockley Nick said...

Perhaps you could camp out at Brockley Market, just next door.
