Bad Boys Too

A local resident who asked not to be named sent us this photo of Brockley Police Station, which was recently bought by developers seeking to turn it into housing. No plans have been approved, but it looks like the building is not being taken good care of. He writes:

Unfortunately the original gates and some of the walls with beautiful stonework were taken down earlier today. The roof and some of the wall of the end of the building have also been removed. The Council have been informed.

It's probably being done by the same developers who ruined the pub down on Friendly St....

Progress was never going to be painless. Can't make an omelette without breaking eggs.

At a guess the wall at the back and yard aren't anything worth preservation the station itself will be worth keeping an eye on as work has begun inside today. The development will be internal hopefully the houses out the back facing Keller road will demand that the walls all around will come down for windows and doors to go in.

This building is locally listed and of historical importance. How can this be allowed to happen without proper public consultation?!

Nearly as bad vandalism as saying the "council have" instead of "has".

Maybe it someone nicking the London stock bricks for another project, or a new garden wall perhaps? I do recall tiled front paths were recently being pinched.

But I'm more surprised the puns aren't flowing on this one yet ;)

A section of the actual station building has now been taken down by the gates.
