Kender Surprise

With the Global Street Art festival on its way to Brockley next year, a new work has just appeared on a warehouse wall in Kender Street, New Cross. Thanks to Vik for the photo - if anyone knows the story behind it, please let us know.
And now? Not. The moral majority won. The mural is gone.

I find this very skilful but rather disquieting. Male or female and why are their ankles bound?

I think it the black line over the ankles is supposed to represent shading but they got the angle wrong.

Truly tacky! Yuk.

I think it's tremendous, and I'm glad it's slightly disturbing.

I ride past that warehouse all the time, and this was completed in one day. Whether you like it or not, I think it's extraordinary that someone's put life into 40m of tag covered brick wall.

Boring dross.

Legs and head male, torso and arms female. Tiresias and spooky.

Tamsin said...

Anything but boring - and the skill in painting something that good that large is awesome. Amazing that it was completed in a day. Anyone answering Nick's request for details of who, how and why?

Really? I don't see any male in it at all... Looks 100% woman to me!

Likewise.

I note from his bio on his website that after giving up being an interior designer he: "Resigned from job to spend more time creating art" (circa 2013 I'm guessing)

Wonder when he's actually going to start doing that because this is nonsense, stick to the previous day job mate!

A real shame it has gone. The owner should have been braver and stuck it out.
