Anatomy of a Pop Up

The pop-up shop on the corner of Lewisham Way and Tyrwhitt Road is slowly unfurling. As was predicted on the previous thread, it's a furniture shop, which complements Aladdin's Cave opposite.

That's it, Brockley has hit peak hipster. Where has all the real stuff gone?

I was hoping for a greasy spoon pop up here, just in time for New Year's Day

if the shop is up for rent perhaps a 'real' enterprise can bid for it.

For all your hangover fry up needs, Maggie's and her twenty-item build-your-own-breakfast is but a ten minute walk away. Be sure to ask for Maggie's Special Irish Mustard.

I hope it will be reasonably priced.

Oh yes, I'm a seasoned Maggies Cafe visitor. Always nice to have something close to home!

Hopefully not like the excessive variable pricing structure Aladins uses!

Peak Hipster, really?!? What is real stuff?? Laundrettes, Western Union, Perfect Fried Chicken, William Hill, dusty off licences?! Isn't actually quite nice to have nice things moving in?

there's the college cafe over the road and up a bit (a couple of doors down from Meze Mangal)

Ludicrous prices, £350 for a chair, £950 for a small drinks cabinet, £750 for a carved head. I saw you coming?

Monkeyboy said...

depends on the chair

The leaseholder is Noel, who intends to open a deli selling good food and great coffee. He had a vintage furniture shop in North London but was kicked out of his shop a couple of weeks ago so has brought some of his furniture and opened the pop up shop while he gets on with planning the deli. He's canvassing opinion about a deli from everyone who sticks their head in the door. And the furniture is beautiful - some stunning pieces. Plus vases, Avoca blankets and some art. Definitely worth popping in for a chat - and a look if you're into 20th century design.

What effect will this have on local house prices?

So we might get something permanent here? That's exciting....

Not enough of an impact to allow you to move to Earl's Court 5 years ago....

There's been talk of a deli for a year now at least.
