Masala Wala Cafe, Brockley Cross

The cafe is now open and the early reviews are great.

went on Wednesday with long distance athlete Richard. great little place, a fairly short menu at the moment but good grub at a keen price. its a cafe not a restaurant so if you dont like squeezing up with fellow Brocklyites then...well its your loss. all the tables were full so it does show that there is still room for more decent places to eat.

Went last night and it was really very nice indeed.

Very spicy, rather pricey and how long does it take to serve meat in sauce type dishes with separate rice pots when there are only 16 covers?

This is Saima from Masala Wala Cafe. Sorry to hear you had to wait a little while for your food, the roti's are freshly made on service which takes a little longer but much tastier. The café seats up to 30 people at any one time.

I agree, rather a long wait for a cafe style place with a small menu. And a bit pricey. Rice is cheaper at Babur. Chicken curry is served on the bone as expected but a very small drumstick and a thigh had very little chicken on it. A little disappointing for me.

Went for first time yesterday and very impressed! They concentrate on a few items (two meat curries and two veg) cooked really well. The food is not at all oily (they don't use ghee) and so easily digestible. Bring your own booze. Will be back.
